Today was one of those days that you hear about but you never want to see happen... It had been a discussion between our team in recent days & rather then shy away from it we need to talk about it.
“SUICIDE AWARENESS IS REAL”
Today it really hit home for one of our drivers and our team..
At 10am while travelling north from Waitara on SH3 our driver Cory spotted a blue vehicle acting suspiciously, the driver with his head down on the steering wheel pulled into Corys lane and proceeded to head straight for his unit.
Already slowing and aware of a situation not quite right Cory managed to get his nose over enough that the car skimmed up the side of him and lodged it’s self into his drive axles… this pierced his air tanks & his entire unit locked up.. sliding for over 100m he managed to keep his loaded semi truck & trailer as straight as he could and come to a holt, one hell of a scary situation to be in. Acting quick with adrenaline pumping he got out of his truck to check on the driver who was unresponsive but looked to be ok. Originally thinking he had fallen asleep at the wheel, it wasn’t till later after speaking with police the reality of the situation sunk in… with the massive heart Cory has this has really hit home for our homie..
We really feel for our bro & this is not ok.. it’s not ok to try take your own life & it’s not ok to put other people’s lives at risk when doing so.. it needs to change, su***de is starting to become far to frequent & the problems start with us, how we treat others, how we judge others, how we don’t work together anymore and help one another.. If we want to see change we need to change… all of us.. Life is a beautiful gift, embrace it. We never know what others are going through, the hardships, the struggles of their own lives so remember always be kind..
