Strong cow families and structural integrity are at the core of Gayley Wood Farms in Ngatea, where James and Ruby Wallace, alongside Graham and Marian Wallace, focus on breeding sound, durable cows with strong udders and long-lasting performance. Milking 330 cows across Friesian, Jersey and Ayrshire genetics, the herd is built on type, functionality and consistency in a grass-based system.
With a strong stud focus alongside commercial production, the farm is gaining momentum through genetics success, Afimilk technology, and upcoming heifer sales. Their approach prioritises longevity over flash production, aiming to build cow families that continue performing well across multiple lactations.
