⚡ Here are a few pics from yesterday's Otago event of the 2026 Master Electricians New Zealand Apprentice Challenge. ⚡

A huge congratulations to all of our apprentices who took part and did Plunket Electrical proud. It was great to see the skills, effort and professionalism they brought to the challenge.

Great effort team, and well done to Liam coming in 2dn in the Domestic/Commercial category.

Jeez we have some great young people working for us.

So good to see a number of our apprentices take part in the 2026 Master Electricians Otago Apprentice Challenge 2026. They stepped forward and tested their skills, knowledge, and problem-solving ability in real-world competition modules that are designed to reflect the electrical industry. They challenged themselves and their peers, and did really well.

Well done to Liam Prouting-Gardner who came 2nd in the Domestic/Commercial category.

WELL DONE TEAM.... WE ARE PROUD AS!!!

🔌 We couldn’t be prouder of one of Plunket Electrical’s bright young apprentices, Hunter Growcott!

Hunter was selected by ETCO as one of only four apprentices to represent New Zealand at the ANZETA WorldSkills Electrical Competition in Adelaide recently.

Competitors were challenged to complete a full prescribed electrical installation within a strict six-hour timeframe and were assessed across a range of criteria. Against some talented apprentices, Hunter’s hard work and dedication shone through, earning him 8th place, an outstanding achievement.

⚡Congratulations Hunter⚡, we're incredibly proud to have you as part of the Plunket Electrical team. The future of our industry is in good hands with young tradespeople like yourself.

Passing on our thoughts to the Mavor family and our mates at the North Otago Refs Association. Stefan was a top man and will be hugely missed in our community.

It was our priviledge to be the match day sponsor of the North Otago v Whanganui Heartland Rugby match last Saturday. The sun shone, the Network Waitaki Event Centre hosted us, and what a fantastic facility it is to enjoy our national game! There was plenty of running rugby, unfortunately it was not North Otago's day. Meanwhile inside there was an age group Basketball tournament on, the place was an absolute hive of activity! On Friday we celebrated a man who has been part of Plunket Electrical for longer than some of our staff have been alive.

Smokey (or Brent Woodford or Woody to others) started with us in May 1997, nearly 30 years later has finally decided to hang up the tools and retire. He is a great workmate and a big part of the Plunket family...we thank him for his loyalty, hard work and friendship.

Smokey, you are a good bu**er and we wish you a long and happy retirement. Cheers mate!
