A familiar face to many at Resonant!

Former team member James Cole is taking part in The Big Swim 2026 to raise funds for Coastguard NZ.

We're proud to support James and this fantastic cause. Good luck with the swim and the fundraising effort.

We recently presented a submission to Palmerston North City Council regarding the proposed changes to planning and resource consent fees. Like many others across the development and property sector, we were concerned about the scale of some of the proposed increases and the impact these could have on housing, development feasibility, and investment in our city.

Following the hearings process, Council has signalled changes to the proposal and acknowledged many of the concerns raised through submissions. We appreciate the willingness of elected members and staff to listen to feedback from industry, businesses, and the wider community.

Good planning outcomes come from open conversations and collaboration, and we were pleased to be part of that process alongside others who took the time to submit.

As a local consultancy working across surveying, engineering and planning, we see firsthand how important it is to strike the right balance between recovering costs and keeping development achievable for the people helping grow Palmerston North.

Resonant has gone hybrid!

As a business involved in shaping communities and infrastructure, it’s important we keep looking at practical ways to reduce our environmental footprint while still having a vehicle that suits the demands of travelling across the region for site visits, meetings and project work.

You’ll likely spot this one out and about on site visits, meetings and coffee runs very soon.

There was a strong smell of petrol (and competition) in the air on Sunday as the Social Club headed to Daytona.

Teams were drawn from a hat, which made for some interesting pairings… a few crashes, some slick pit changes, and plenty of laughs.

Big congrats to Team Black (Cam & Callum) for taking it out — first to 90 laps, closely followed by Team Blue on 87 laps. Fastest lap went to Civil Engineer Dan.

A great way to spend a laid-back Sunday afternoon, wrapped up with a well-earned drivers’ debrief at the pub.

We’re lucky to be just a hop, skip and a jump from Neighbourhood Palmy — one of our favourite spots for lunch.

As a team, we make a point of sharing meals together. There’s something about sitting down and breaking bread that builds a strong culture.

Big shout out to Neighbourhood Palmy for making it easy for groups — we pre-order and everything comes out together and on time, which is ideal for a lunch break.

This morning we were joined by Lynne from Site Safe New Zealand for our team toolbox meeting. She shared practical advice on managing fatigue and making sure PPE is effective — two simple areas that make a real difference to safety every day.

As if that wasn’t enough, she also cooked the team a top-notch breakfast. Hard to argue with training that comes with bacon.

We get genuine value from our membership with Site Safe New Zealand — useful support, practical guidance, and resources that help keep our people safe and informed.

Thanks Lynne for starting the day the right way.

We’re parting ways with a couple of our trusty fleet vehicles.

Both are 2012 Toyota RAV4s that have spent their lives loyally getting our team to site, through mud, meetings, and everything in between. They’ve been regularly serviced, run well, and are ready for their next chapter.

They’re not showroom perfect, but they’re honest, reliable, and still have plenty of life left in them.

Up for grabs:
• White RAV4 – 138,000km – $12,000
• Silver RAV4 – 198,000km – $10,000

Both come with current rego and WOF, a good clean and signage removed.

If you’re after a solid runaround that’s been part of the Resonant crew, come take a look.

Give our office a call on 06 356 7000 to arrange a viewing.

Last Thursday we took a moment to mark something pretty special.

Jamie and Kevin hit 40 years working alongside each other — a milestone that speaks for itself. They first started out together back in 1984, fresh into their careers, and have continued working together right through the different stages that followed.

It’s not often you see that kind of longevity in a working relationship, and it says a lot about the people involved.

Got a colleague you’ve worked with for as long as you can remember? How many years are you up to?
