About 1 in 9 woman in New Zealand will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives and it impacts thousands of families every year ❤️‍🩹

Throughout October Smith & Sons Manawatu are raising funds for Breast Cancer Cure, with a local goal of $2,000 towards the national Smith & Sons target of $44,000 and we're hoping our awesome friends will join us in helping to smash their target!✨

WE’RE HIRING – 3rd-year APPRENTICE ELECTRICIAN to fully qualified ELECTRICIAN

Manawatū | Full-time

DS Electrical is looking for our next team member. We’re open to talking with anyone from a third-year apprentice through to a fully qualified electrician.

We’ve been delivering quality electrical work across Manawatū, Rangitīkei and Horowhenua.

We work across a wide range of projects, including:

• New builds and residential renovations
• Commercial electrical work
• Architectural and feature lighting
• Solar
• Heat pumps
• Home automation
• Gates
• General electrical installation and maintenance

The Role

If you enjoy variety, like getting stuck in and want more than doing the same thing every day, this could be a good fit.

You’ll be working across a range of projects alongside a solid team that values good workmanship, reliability and people who work well together.

Solar experience would be a bonus, but it’s not essential.

About You

• Third-year apprentice through to fully qualified electrician
• Takes pride in your work and pays attention to detail
• Reliable and ready to get stuck in
• Positive attitude and good communication skills
• Works well as part of a team
• Current full driver’s licence
• Solar experience is a bonus

We engineered a custom strip lighting setup to elevate the restaurant's vibe. The lighting integrates directly into architectural details, adding depth, highlighting textures, and creating beautiful layers of light without adding visual clutter.

Here is how we did it:

🎨 Fully Zoned: Different areas within the restaurant can run completely different colours simultaneously. Think party atmosphere at the bar, while keeping the dining area calm and intimate.

🤖 DMX Controlled: Programmed entirely in-house for ultimate control, allowing the staff to transform the mood of the room in seconds. Featuring incredible colour chases, smooth gradients, and even a cosy, flickering fire effect that perfectly matches Holy Smoke's signature style 🔥

We had the privilege of shaping the atmosphere at Palmy’s hottest BBQ restaurant 🥩 🍽️

From concept to completion, our team managed the full lighting design, product selection, and installation. By combining strategically placed downlights, bespoke pendants, and sleek strip lighting, we were able to define key dining zones and highlight the incredible, unique decor ⚙️🐮

The result? A moody, fire-lit space that’s both dramatic and welcoming — the perfect setting for good food and great company 🍻 ✨
