With a mechanical/engineering background, one of things I do is maintain and repair my own equipment.
Currently in the build for my classic NZ built 1970 PowerPony, is a 1.5mtr wide sickle-bar mower to tackle standing grass/hay built using an Allis-Chalmers sickle-bar, some original PowerPony mower parts, and used steel.
Slow journey, but hoping it'll be ready and cutting grass this summer.
