# # # Tribute to Steve Matthews
Yesterday, we gathered to honour the memory and pay tribute to Steve Matthews, who passed away on June 29, 2023.
The void he has left in our company and our hearts is immense, and we are all still grappling with the magnitude of his passing. Each day brings with it a painful reminder of Steve's absence, and yet, in the face of such profound sadness, we are slowly, very slowly, trying to heal.
Steve was more than just a colleague, father, and husband; he was a mentor, a leader, a protector of those he loved, and a friend to everyone in this company. His dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to every task he undertook and his ability to inspire those around him, lift spirits with his infectious optimism, and turn challenges into opportunities set him apart as a remarkable man.
In the weeks and months since Steve's passing, Bradley, Steve's son, has stepped up in extraordinary ways, following in his father's footsteps with strength, pride, and determination that speaks volumes about Steve's legacy. Bradley, your father would undoubtedly be immensely proud of you. Your courage and leadership are a testament to the values and lessons that Steve instilled in you. He would be proud of all of us pulling together to ensure that what he worked so hard to build remains strong and thriving.
Steve achieved so much in what now seems like an all-too-short lifetime. He was always working toward the future—a future for his family and this company to be proud of. Steve often pushed the boundaries of what was possible and never settled for anything less than the best. But he also held dreams and hopes beyond work—especially his love for sailing. Steve often spoke of his plans to retire and spend his days on the open water, feeling the breeze and relishing the freedom that sailing brought him. It is a cruel reminder of life's unpredictability that he did not get to experience this chapter of life he so richly deserved.
We are reminded of the fleetingness of life as we reflect on Steve's achievements and the profound mark he left on us. Our journey is brief, and Steve's passing is a harsh reminder that we must cherish every second, holding dear to those things and people we love. We must honour Steve's memory by living fully, supporting each other, and not taking the precious gift of time for granted.
Steve, you will forever be remembered not only for your professional accomplishments but for the kindness, generosity, and dedication you demonstrated daily.
We miss you more than words can express, and we vow to honour you by living our lives with the same passion and integrity you so effortlessly represented.
Rest in peace, dear friend, cherished father, and loving partner.
