Well it's clearly been a year since our last post as we're back with the Master Joiners Awards 2025, and we're really pleased to have scooped up a prize again this year! This time we were awarded 'Best Speciality, Bar, Counter or Fitment' for this recent project at Poutiri Wellness Centre, right here in our hometown Te Puke.

New cedar door installed this week for our clients. We recycled the old door and used them for the inner panels.

Before, the door was just vertical panels, no framing. This doesn't allow for seasonal movement of the timber, and it often didn't close properly. Although the old door wasn't performing well, the timber was sound. No waste here..

Bunk bed delivered! Might not look like anything special but it is trapezoidal to fit the room. Assembled by tenon and mortice, no misplaced nostalgia here, just unmatched strength and quality compared with dowels or dominoes.

A very special project this week at the workshop: some hull shaped treads for a floating stairway.. Some intricate machining involved as well as custom made shaping knives.

30/6/20. Today we are featuring Artisan Carpentry. They are a family run joinery business specialising in solid timber joinery and cabinetry. Charles de Lapomarede is a Master Joiner. He has twice been awarded the NZ Master Joiner Supreme Award for excellence in joinery and craftsmanship - the only person in NZ to have won this award twice. Originally from Marseille in France he is married to Holly. The business began in Auckland in 2010. Three years ago they moved to Te Puke and established a workshop on the farm of Hollys grandad Richard Brawn at 747 No 2 Road. Their customer base is widespread across NZ and the quality is truly impressive. They are keen to grow the business and are looking to employ an apprentice in the next year.
