Ever wondered what goes into a plaster finish? 👀

There’s a lot more happening beneath the surface than you might think.

A typical plaster system is built up through several stages:

→ Mesh coat
→ Skim coat
→ Float coat
→ Top coat
→ Primer
→ Paint

Each layer plays its part in creating a strong, durable and professionally finished exterior. It’s all in the layers 👌

It might seem like a small detail, but it’s an important part of getting the job done properly.

Before painting, we remove exterior light fittings where required so we can coat the surface properly behind them, rather than simply painting around them.

Once painting is complete, the lights are refitted and resealed to help prevent moisture getting in behind the fitting and into the exterior cladding system.

It’s all part of making sure your exterior is properly protected - not just looking good from the outside. 👌

So, what should you be keeping on top of? 👇

🏠 Wash your exterior annually to remove dirt, salt, mould and grime build up.

🔍 Keep an eye out for cracks or damage and get in touch if you notice anything that needs attention.

🌿 Trim back vegetation that’s growing against or touching your exterior walls.

💧 Keep gutters and downpipes clear and make sure water is draining away from the building.

A little regular maintenance goes a long way towards protecting your exterior and extending the life of your coating system.

We started work on the cladding at this property this week, and while up on the scaffold we got a good look at the existing Klass fascia and gutter system…

Safe to say, it’s seen better days! 🌱😅 Heavy build up, vegetation growing through the gutter and visible deterioration around the fascia and soffit - all good reminders that these areas can be easy to miss from ground level.
