Tatuanui Solar Farm - one of the many projects contributing to the shift toward large-scale solar across New Zealand.

As demand for renewable energy continues to grow, so does the need for teams who can deliver at scale. From groundworks through to final connections.

Solar is only going one way, and we’re continuing to build our capability to support it ☀️

It’s opening day for the first section of Te Whau Pathway! 🌿

Coll Electrical is proud to have delivered lighting for the first boardwalk section of the shared pathway in Te Atatū South for HEB Construction.

Connecting the Northwestern Cycleway to Horowai (Roberts Fields), the path winds along the river’s edge through the mangroves, creating a unique and accessible link for the community.

Our team completed:
• Installation of path light poles and luminaires
• Handrail lighting along the boardwalk
• POD lighting throughout the pathway

This boardwalk reflects the natural flow of the Whau River and the spirit of kaitiakitanga that underpins the project. Once fully open, it will provide a vital connection between neighbourhoods, schools, and green spaces.

If you’re local, take an evening walk this weekend and check it out for yourself!

A big thanks to our suppliers and everyone involved in bringing this project to life.

We have something pretty cool to introduce 👀🐝

You might have already spotted our new Hydrovac rolling around town - it’s pretty hard to miss!

Supplied by KOR Equipment Solutions, this Capellotto hydrovac mounted on a Scania truck is a serious bit of kit. With a 6″ vacuum hose, 8m³ tank, and high payload capacity, it’s perfectly suited for hydro excavation and working safely in high-density urban environments.

Huge shoutout to The Sign Studio for bringing the truck to life with the epic signwriting!

🔦 PROJECT SPOTLIGHT | Tatuanui Solar Farm

16 hectares. 11MWp. Entering the final stages of delivery! 🌞

Since September 2025, our team has been on site supporting CHINT Green Energy New Zealand, delivering key electrical works across the Tatuanui Solar Farm. It’s been all hands on deck to keep the project on track through rain, mud, and sunshine!

Our contributions included:
• Connection of modules and installation of DC string cabling
• Installation of LV AC cabling from smart inverters to transformers
• Installation of MV cables
• Installation, connection, and labelling of 22 Smart String Inverters
• Earthing systems, including cabling with underground crimps
• Transformer station earthing grids
• Auxiliary power supplies, mag slab and warning tape protection
• Communications and fibre cabling
• Installation of lighting poles,
• Installation of weather, meteorological, and hydrologic stations
• Testing, QA, and site management & logistics
• Supply and installation of engraved, weatherproof labels

Tatuanui Solar Farm will play a key role in supporting local renewable energy infrastructure. And, being in the heart of New Zealand's prime dairying region, it will supply around one third of the Tatua milk processing plant’s electricity requirements.

Another great project for the books!

Working at height isn’t just about having the right equipment, it’s about having the right people.

90% of our field staff are qualified to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), which means elevated work like sports field lighting is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high professional standard.

Big things are happening at Te Kori Scott Point! 🚧

Coll Electrical is proud to be working with HEB Construction on New Zealand’s first 100% sustainable park, supporting the growing Hobsonville community. After completing all lighting and power across the 16.4 Ha site, including the carpark, we’re now tackling the next stage: field lighting.

With the help of NZ Crane Hire, our team has been installing massive 21 m and 25 m poles - a challenging task that requires strict safety procedures.

The park is on track to welcome the public this summer!
