BLACK FERNS PRE-SEASON MATCH @ MAIDSTONE PARK
Maidstone Park in Upper Hutt looked its best for yesterday's pre-season match between the Black Ferns and Black Ferns XV. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes to prepare the field for a high profile game, so we asked our groundsman Kyle Beyer to share his secrets for success:
"Preparing the rugby field for a Black Ferns game involved a few key steps to ensure it was presented to a high standard. We began by sweeping the field with a tractor-mounted sweeper to remove clippings, debris, and loose material.
The field was then mowed with a Jacobsen reel mower to create a clean, even finish. After mowing, we applied a liquid fertiliser and wetting agent to support healthy turf growth and improve water movement through the soil, helping maintain a consistent playing surface.
Finally, the field was line marked to ensure all markings were straight, clear, and accurately positioned for the game.
We received great feedback from both the public and the Black Ferns team, which made the effort put into preparing the field very worthwhile."
Congrats Kyle on a job well done! Game On!
