COMING UP IN SEPTEMBER

We started September by taking Mountain Club over the hill, two days in The Secret Sauna, Lake Hāwea, Wānaka and The Secret Sauna Cardrona, guided hot and cold therapy, and connections made with members a little further afield.

Tonight we're back with our monthly AI Meet-Up, then the big one this week is Snow Machine. Our Signature Experience runs three days, opening with the VIP Artists Live Podcast Speaker Series and pre-event drinks at Beach Street before the Snow Machine Rees St Party. Thursday it's a full day heli-ski backcountry adventure, and Friday we're on the slopes at The Remarkables before an evening in the VIP Lodge for main stage views, premium hospitality and world-class DJs.

Our usual weekly Watershed Saunas on the 9th is for the dads, a Father's Day Sauna and Plunge, followed by a Tasting Session with Matt Connell Wines, then our third AI Series Workshop on Managing Brand in the Age of AI.

Later in the month, our annual cross country ski day returns at Snow Farm NZ, still one of the highlights of the Member Events calendar. Rental gear, trail passes, lunch and a lesson are included, except more time laughing than gliding gracefully across the snow, and a stop at the Cardrona Pub on the way back over the hill. $165 per person, members and guests welcome. Close out the month with a Gin Tasting by local Rifters, a Women's Sauna Day with Watershed, and a limited space talk on The Truth About Injectables with Nicole from Skin Glow.

Tasting Session with Matt Connell Wines || Thursday 10 September || 1730 – 1900 || Mountain Club Beach Street

Matt Connell doesn't release a wine until it's earned its place, which is partly why his Rendition Pinot Noir took Champion Wine of Show and why he was named Winemaker of Show in 2020.

We're excited to welcome Matt to a tasting session where he'll be pouring his range of wines, talking through the sites, the seasons, and what sets each vintage apart.

Join us for a social, relaxed evening, sit across the table, meet new people, and enjoy the journey through his wines together. Complimentary for members, guests welcome with a $20 donation to the MC community fund.

Two weeks at Mountain Club.

We started this one on the runway. Our Alps to City trip took a group to Auckland for New Zealand Fashion Week, two days built around the Kathryn Wilson Footwear show, private styling sessions, a Beauty Lab morning with MECCA, and dinners that ran long in all the right ways. A signature experience, and one we'll be running back in 2027.

Back home, on the snow with Search and Rescue Dogs Avalanche NZ took members up to Coronet Peak to watch the dogs behind avalanche rescue work a live search, before Nick Gilbert, founder of Favour, ran the second session in our AI Series, taking ChatGPT beyond the basics and into workflows people can actually use.

The weekly rhythm kept moving underneath it all: sauna and cold plunge sessions out at Watershed Saunas, early ski tours on the mountain, and Reform Queenstown pilates twice a week.

Beach St Cafe turned four, and we marked it properly, balloons, banners, and treats from The Remarkable Cookies, Boring Oat Milk and Allpress Espresso, plus a well overdue thank you to Loz and the crew who've kept the coffee running since day one. We spent a wet evening around the table with owner of Wet Jacket Wines, Greg Hay for a tasting session. The weather was fitting to learn about the history and stories behind the brand and wine in New Zealand.

Paddy scouted out Dusky Sound with Shadowland Expeditions, helicopter in, boat out, fresh seafood in between, all in the name of finding the next experience worth bringing to our members. To close the week out, we made the most of our extended Friday hours with after work drinks out on the balcony as the sun went down.

Just another fortnight at Mountain Club.

This one's for the dads.

Our weekly sauna and plunge session at Watershed Saunas is dedicated to Father's Day next week, celebrating the wonderful dads in our community with a proper contrast therapy reset: heat in the sauna, a plunge into Lake Whakatipu, and repeat.

Take an hour out of your week for yourself.

Let Mountain Club Take Care Of It.

The best trips are the ones you didn’t even know existed. They're the ones our team puts together using local knowledge and deep connections you won't find anywhere else. Our premium concierge services exist to take the details off your hands entirely.

Paddy recently spent a day exploring Dusky Sound with Shadowland Expeditions, flying in by helicopter over Fiordland's misty mountain passes before joining the boat for a day on the water. Fishing, diving, and fresh seafood delicacies prepared fish to plate by the onboard chef, all set against one of the most remote and least visited corners of the World Heritage Area.

Let us handle the operators, the timing and the logistics, so you can focus on the part that actually matters: the memories you'll cherish forever.

Ready for an experience like this of your own? Our concierge services come included as part of your Mountain Club membership. Email [email protected] or visit our concierge page.

MC x Snow Farm NZ || Thursday 24 September || 0915 - 1500 || Snow Farm, Cardrona

Our annual cross country ski day is back, and it's still one of the true highlights of the Member Events calendar. Expect to spend more time laughing than gliding gracefully across the snow, which is really the point. The day includes rental gear, your full-day trail pass and a lesson to get everyone feeling confident and on their feet. Afterwards, enjoy a well-deserved lunch and toast at the historic Meadows Hut to celebrate whatever you'd call your technique by the end of the day.

Meet at Snow Farm at 9:15am for a 9:30am lesson start (self-drive or ride-share). Cardrona Pub afterwards for anyone keen on a proper drink and feed before we head back over the hill.

$165 per person || Members and Guests welcome || Book via our experiences page.

Our first session of How I Built This brought together Mason Kingdom (Mason's Queenstown) and Harriet Watkins (Dr Watkins' Essentialsls). We asked when they knew they had to build it, when they thought it might not work, and what they'd do differently with everything they know now.

Mason started at 17 with $1,000 and a Facebook post. His takeaway: spot the gap, then back it with focus and modern marketing.
Harriet built her skincare range while managing an autoimmune condition, solving her own problem first. Her takeaway: stay small batch, stay science backed, and listen closely to your customers.

Thank you Mason and Harriet for sitting down with us and being so open about the highs and the hard parts of building something from nothing. Conversations like this are exactly why we started this series, and there are more founders and more stories still to come.

Web In Travel (WIT) Queenstown brought CEOs, tech founders, and tourism leaders from all around the world to Queenstown to talk about the future of travel tech.

In our latest Mountain Club Podcast episode, Paddy sits down with Roger Sharp, founder and chair of Technology Queenstown and former chair of Webjet.com.au, for a conversation on bringing WIT to Queenstown, building a travel tech ecosystem, and what comes next for the region's economy.

Roger shares what it took to convince global CEOs, from agoda, Air New Zealand, Expedia, and more, to fly to Queenstown for the event, and why not one of them said no. He talks through the 343 million dollar Webjet rescue that first convinced him Queenstown couldn't rely on tourism alone, and what's already moving because of WIT, from a new university tech campus to global investors taking a serious look at the region.

Thank you Roger for sharing how WIT came together and what it means for Queenstown's future. This is a grounded, ambitious listen on tech, tourism, and where the region goes from here.

We're taking Mountain Club over the hill, for two separate days in Lake Hāwea and Cardrona. Both days built around what our members have been asking for: proper time in the mountains, followed by proper time to recover in them. Book onto either day, or both.

On Wednesday, we're at the original The Secret Sauna, Lake Hāwea, Wānaka, a wood fired sauna where you step straight from the heat into the lake's clear, cold water, mountains and water framing you from every side.

On Thursday, a crew of us will head up for an optional morning ski touring at either Treble Cone or Cardrona, then regroup at 2pm at The Secret Sauna Cardrona. Hidden deep in the Cardrona mountains and reached only by troop carrier truck, three 15 minute guided rounds, cold plunging between each one straight from a mountain creek, the first two rounds for easy conversation and the last held in silence, finished off with a complimentary herbal tea. From there we'll close the day properly, with kai at the Cardrona Pub on the way home.

Limited spaces for both days, don't wait on it.
