Excavator Operator / Civil All-Rounder

- Pay Rate: $38.00 – $45.00 / hour (DOE)

We’re on the hunt for a skilled, self-motivated Excavator Operator (Class 2) who takes genuine pride in their work and knows how to get stuck in.
This isn't just a cab-sitting job—we need a versatile, physically fit all-rounder who can operate precision machinery one minute, jump out to grab a spade the next, and keep site prep moving smoothly alongside our team. Reporting directly to our Civil Manager & Project Manager, you’ll play a key role in executing top-tier civil and hard groundwork across the region.
What You’ll Be Doing
In the Cab: Precision excavator operation (1.7t – 5t+) for site cuts, bulk earthworks, trenching, sub grade prep, and final trimming.
Behind the Wheel: Driving Class 2 tipper trucks to transport machinery, aggregate, and materials between sites efficiently.
On the Ground: Rolling up your sleeves to help with hand digging, base course prep, aggregate compaction, and subsoil drainage.
Concrete & Footings Support: Assisting with site setup for structural footings, masonry block work, and concrete prep.
On-Site Professionalism: Representing the business with a sharp attitude when dealing with clients, inspectors, and subcontractors.
What We’re Looking For -
Licenses: Full NZ Class 2 Driver License required (Class 4 and WTR are major bonuses).
Machine Savvy: Proven, steady experience operating excavators on active civil or construction sites.
Concrete Skills (Big Plus): Hands-on experience with form work, steel placement, or concrete pouring/finishing will put you at the top of the pile.
Physically Fit & Willing: High energy and ready to jump on a spade whenever the team needs an extra set of hands.
Self-Driven & Reliable: Top-tier time management, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to run site tasks without someone holding your hand.
