Did you know a ‘flat’ roof isn’t actually flat?
At this Millbrook home built by Trinity, the lower roof sections have a gentle slope of around two degrees, directing rainwater towards drainage outlets. They connect the different parts of the home without competing with the taller, pitched roofs.
Above them, natural slate roofs rise at 37.5 degrees, giving the home its distinctive alpine character. Each slate has subtle variations in colour and texture, with individual pieces laid by hand and cut to fit where needed.
There’s another difference you can’t see: the lower sections use a ‘warm roof’ system, with insulation above the structural roof deck. This helps keep the deck warmer and, when correctly designed and installed, reduces the risk of condensation.
Two roof forms, each with a different role in how the home looks and performs.
