Home. Finally. 🌿🏡

After a lot of hard work, we’re officially living in our Raglan barn home.

This project has been a labour of love from day one. Designed and built by us with our partners - Heritage Timber Craft - using natural materials, traditional post and beam joinery, and craftsmanship that reflects what Back to Nature Carpentry is all about.

There are still a few finishing touches to complete, but it’s amazing to finally call this place home.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way—our clients, suppliers, subcontractors, friends and family. We couldn’t have done it without you.

We’re proud of what we’ve created and can’t wait to share more of the journey as we finish the final details.

Our doors are now open to anyone interested in us building their own home. Contact us today to arrange a meeting and walk through!

Kia ora, I’m Dylan from Back to Nature Carpentry. A passionate father, husband, surfer & carpenter.

I’ve spent 17 years building, designing, and pushing for healthier alternatives in our industry. One thing I’m proud of is helping bring Naturepine (non-arsenic treated timber) forward as a real option for local residential builds.

I’m big on natural materials, thoughtful design, and homes that are practical, simple, and solid.
I keep my business small so I can stay hands-on with every detail. Lately I’ve focused on barn homes, custom interiors, and non-toxic decks or fences.

If you’re looking for an honest builder and/or at building a barn home or exploring the new sub-70m² consent-exempt options, I’m here to help. We have a range of options! No jobs are too big or small! Let’s start planning your projects for next year!

Foundation | Raglan Barn Home Build – Stage one

We finally broke ground on our family barn home project! Beginning with the site leveling and finishing stage one with a perfect coloured concrete slab. Ready for the barn frame. 👍

Suppliers:
• Qpod - Recycled slab pods
• Waikato Ready Mix - low carbon
• Peterfell - Concrete colouring

Trades / Crew:
• Raglan Excavations
• Wolfpack Foundation specialists

This is a dream come true - to finally build my own home. Weather has delayed us but we found a perfect window between rainy days to pour our concrete and achieve a perfect finish which will ultimately be polished!

Next up: The barn raising ✌️
