Here we are creating the internal down pipe drain outlets for the flat roof catchments.

Recessed below the face of the plywood so the TPO membrane can be laid over the top, unobstructed. A careful thought process initially helped with getting this just right as the four corners of these rectangles of ply cut out would become the points of termination for the valleys on these flat roof areas.

We have found another use for the steel equal angle that we used for the rebates in the slab.

Here we have a piece of lumber ready to be cut into a firring to create a fall or pitch on the flat roof. Unfortunately, most of New Zealand's quality lumber is exported, therefore coming up with alternative methods to hold a piece of timber straight prior to cutting, can pay off when it comes to accuracy.

Here we have simply screwed an equal angle to a scaffold plank on saw stools. We have predrilled holes in the face of the equal angle and used short tek screws to pull the length of timber into a straight line. The desired heights are marked, and a line is snapped onto the face of the timber. Now we can get the best possible result once carefully cut.

Hydronic underfloor heating/cooling pipelay has been run.

We have chosen to use angle irons for the external joinery rebates. This ensures a precise, flat, straight polished concrete edge to integrate seamlessly at the door and window thresholds. One of which, is just shy of 12m in length!

Now we methodically work through our final checks, prior to our upcoming concrete delivery.

Be sure to keep an eye out for our next post, as we reach our first major milestone in part 1 of the concrete pour.

Thanks again 'Bayphil Earthworks' for bringing in their precision GPS guided machinery, to provide us with a beautiful layer of sand blinding to top things off.

Base Construction are well underway with a particularly technical task ahead of them. There are many challenging aspects to this slab which will require a high level of skill and focus.

Now It's all hands-on deck and heads together as we rise up from the ground. Our mascot 'Zeke' will be monitoring tirelessly.
