We're definitely seeing more heat pumps being replaced as the colder weather starts to settle in around Rotorua ❄️

“This small thing could be costing you more on your power bill 👀”

A dirty heat pump filter can make a bigger difference than most people think.

Poor airflow from blocked filters can:
• reduce heating performance
• increase power usage
• make the unit work harder
• cause bad smells
• and sometimes even lead to faults over time

We recommend checking and cleaning filters regularly, especially heading into winter when units start getting used more ❄️

Simple maintenance can make a huge difference to how well your heat pump performs.

The colder weather’s definitely kicking in now and we’ve been flat out the last few weeks with heat pumps, repairs and upgrades heading into winter ❄️

One thing we see a lot is homes struggling to stay warm even though the heat pump is technically still “working”.

A lot of the time the issue isn’t actually the unit being faulty - it’s things like:
• the heat pump being too small for the space
• dirty filters restricting airflow
• older homes losing heat
• large open areas being hard to heat
• or the unit being left on AUTO instead of HEAT 👀

Even something as simple as cleaning filters can make a noticeable difference to performance and power usage.

Power point had taken a bit of a hit from heaters being used a lot, paired with an older switchboard setup. Luckily the breaker did its job and tripped.

Nothing too uncommon this time of year, homes just work a bit harder through winter.

If your place is a bit older, it can be worth a quick check to make sure everything’s coping as it should.
