A few snapshots of what the team has been up to this week.

Different sites, different stages of construction, but the same approach to every project.

Plan the work, keep the team moving, communicate with our clients and make sure the small details aren’t missed.

There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to keep a construction project running smoothly, and it’s not always the stuff that makes for a good photo.

But it’s the planning, teamwork and decisions made each day that make the biggest difference to the end result.

Good building is one thing. Managing the whole project properly is another.

One thing I’d never recommend as a builder

Choosing a quote that only works if everything goes right.

During the quoting stage of this project, we knew something wasn’t quite right behind the walls.

We couldn’t see exactly what was there, but we flagged it early, discussed the risk with our client, and priced what we believed could be required.

Now we’ve opened it up….and it’s a mess.

The difference is, our client already knew this could happen and understood the potential cost.

So instead of a surprise variation blowing out the budget and holding up the job, they can make a quick decision and we keep moving.

Best-case pricing might look cheaper at the start.
It can become very expensive once the walls come off.

Kōhanga reo 📣

your tamariki deserve spaces that are built with the same care you give them every day.

This week we’re kicking off a papatākaro upgrade alongside this kōhanga reo whānau.

Creating a safer space for our tamariki to run, climb, play and do what tamariki do.

Same fun. Better space. Safer for our tamariki.

Anyone can say it was built to plan. Can they prove it?

A lot of the most important work in your home eventually disappears behind plaster and paint.

Structural bracing is one of them.

Before we line the walls, we check what’s been installed against the approved bracing plans.

Then we photograph it.
Record it.
File it.

So if the council, architect or engineer ever asks what’s behind that wall, we’re not relying on someone’s memory from three years ago.

We can simply ask:

What format do you want the evidence in?

That’s what quality assurance means to us.

Not just checking the work today.

Creating a record that protects the homeowner long after we’ve left site.

Ever wondered why the GIB in a new home is different colours?

It’s not just for looks.

The colours help us quickly identify what type of GIB is being used and what job it needs to do.

🟢 Green = GIB Aqualine
Designed for wet areas like bathrooms. We also like using it in kitchens where it makes sense, a small extra cost for a bit more protection in areas where water and moisture are more likely.

⚪ Grey = GIB Standard
This is what you’ll see through most of the home. Bedrooms, living areas, hallways and other dry spaces.

🔵 Blue = GIB Braceline / Noiseline
This is a denser board designed for higher bracing performance and noise control.

On this home, the blue sheets are being used as part of the bracing system, helping the house resist sideways forces and movement.

Different colour. Different job.

Most of it eventually gets painted over…but what’s behind the paint matters.
