Kaipara Refuse Kaipara Refuse Ltd is the official Kaipara District Council Refuse Contractor

👉 As the official kerbside refuse contractor for the Kaipara District, our team collects household refuse and recycling from households and businesses several days a week, and process and sort these at our site in Porritt Street, Ruawai.

👉 We also run a resource and recovery centre at our Dargaville site which is open 5 days a week, and aims to rescue usable items from landfill.

👉 We employ app

roximately 45 staff of which around half live at the Kaurilands Skills Centre Trust, which is a residential facility for intellectually disabled adults. Some of these Kaurilands residents are employed as rubbish collectors and others are employed to sort the recycling that comes back into our Ruawai premises.

👉 Ours is a user-pays system: Kaipara residents purchase their rubbish and recycling bags from outlets throughout the district, and the cost covers both collection and processing. Blue bags for landfill refuse, Yellow bags for recycling.

The people are the REAL heart of Kaipara Refuse, which was born to serve two special purposes...

➡ To financially support the Kaurilands Skills Centre - a residential facility that has been running since the 1990's and provides homes for about 20 people with intellectual disabilities

➡ To create roles for the Kaurilands residents to help them get out into the community and contribute their valuable skills.

What this means is - when you buy a Kaipara Refuse blue rubbish bag or yellow recycling bag, you are directly supporting the Kaurilands Skills centre and it's people and empowering them to contribute to the community ❤

YES they can...if the pizza box is clean and free from grease, cheese and leftover food, it can go in your recycling.

If the bottom of the box is soaked with grease or covered in cheese and food scraps, it belongs in your rubbish bin.

Kaipara Refuse is looking for a reliable and motivated Rubbish/ Recycling Driver to join our team at our Ruawai Depot.

About the Role
This is a full-time position with an immediate start. You'll be responsible for collecting rubbish or recycling while working as part of a supportive team that values respect, reliability, and excellent customer service.

What We're Looking For

👉 Minimum Class 2 Driver Licence
👉 Forklift licence is an advantage, but not essential
👉 Punctual and reliable
👉 Strong work ethic
👉 Team player with a positive attitude
👉 Ability to work alongside staff members with disabilities
👉 Empathetic, patient, and respectful towards others
👉 Committed to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
👉 Basic computer skills
