♻️ Waste-Free Tuesday | Recycling Week

Did you know that more than half of what goes into Kaipara rubbish bags & bins could be diverted from landfill through recycling or composting. 🫣

Our 2024 waste audit found that food scraps and other organic waste made up the largest share of household rubbish at 40.84%. Paper, cardboard and plastics made up another 28%.

This Waste-Free Tuesday, take a closer look at what's in your rubbish bag. Could some of it be composted or recycled instead?

♻️ By composting food scraps (at home or through Sustainable Kaipara) and recycling right, we can all help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Small changes add up and together they can make a big difference for Kaipara. 💚

Following our pricing audit completed in late August 2026, we would like to acknowledge and thank the local businesses throughout the Kaipara District who are doing the right thing by selling our official Kaipara Refuse rubbish and recycling bags at the Recommended Retail Price (RRP).

Our recommended retail prices are:
Blue rubbish bags – $4.55 each
Yellow recycling bags – $2.00 each

A huge thank you for taking the initiative to lower the prices of both the blue and yellow bags to bring them into line with our recommended retail prices. Meet Sam & Karen ☺️

Sam is a resident of Kaurilands Skill Centre, and Karen is his support person. Twice a week they come up to the Dargaville Resource & Recovery Park to pick up rubbish around the site.

Kim from the DRRP would like to acknowledge Sam for the wonderful job he does of keeping our site clean and tidy.
