Meet Dion

Dion operates our 14T digger and is right behind some of our biggest projects, including the major McBeths underslip works and MSE block wall installation. Big job, high precision, and serious skill.

Dion has been with SC for six years and is a true all-rounder. When he’s not on the machine, he’s helping with a broad range of yard maintenance or out driving a truck, keeping everything moving.

Off site, Dion is a proud dad to twin girls and keeps busy with inline hockey and DIY projects at home.

You’ll probably recognise the machine before the face — now you know who’s behind it.

🤩 You’ve seen the truck — now meet who’s behind the wheel. 🤩

Meet Johnny

Johnny drives our K200 Kenworth and has been part of Storms Contracting for the past seven years.

If there’s bulk haulage happening, machines needing to get to site, or jobs spread across multiple locations, chances are Johnny’s involved.

He’s our all-rounder when it comes to transport, working across Cyclone Gabrielle and playing a big role in our most recent January storm response, he is continuously keeping jobs moving when it matteres most.

When Johnny’s not behind the wheel, he’s usually in the shed fixing and restoring vintage cars. A clear favourite is his F100 pickup, which has become a bit of a crowd-pleaser with the team. Outside of work, Johnny loves travelling, with Hawaii sitting firmly at the top of his list, and he’s also a big fan of motorbikes.

The last few weeks have been all hands on deck. January Storm response = long hours and no short-cuts.

Meet Joel

Joel operates our 7.5T digger, fitted with the ever-handy Steelwrist and if you’ve seen tidy rock work around the area, chances are you’ve seen his work.

He’s had plenty of time on the Tairua walking and cycleway, has made many appearances on house sites across Pauanui and Tairua, and puts that Steelwrist to good use on detailed excavation and site preparation work.

You’ll also see Joel currently restoring our roads, removing slip material following the recent storm and helping get things back open and safe.

Joel loves an ocean view and is often parked up in one of the best spots around not a bad office when you’re in a digger most days.

When he’s not operating, Joel likes to keep active, travel, explore new places, and tackle DIY projects around home.
