One of the things we focus heavily on with our homes is the quality of the exterior finish. Being architecturally designed means carrying that same level of thought through to the materials, detailing and finishes we use.

Across our range, COLORSTEEL® Six Rib cladding comes standard, a trusted, proven product that gives our homes a crisp, high-quality architectural finish.

We combine this with natural timber selections including Redwood, Macrocarpa and Lawson Cypress, adding warmth, texture and contrast to the exterior.

We recently took this a step further on one of our builds with Shou Sugi Ban Japanese charred timber cladding. The depth, texture and character of the finished timber created a stunning result and complemented the steel cladding beautifully.

For us, building small shouldn't mean sacrificing the quality of the products or the level of finish. We want our homes to have the same materials, detailing and architectural feel you'd expect from a much larger high quality home.

Windows & doors are a big deal in your new home. 🏡

With so much glazing in our designs, the quality of your windows and doors plays a huge role in how warm, dry and energy efficient your home is.

That’s why at South Base Homes, we only use thermally broken, double-glazed aluminium joinery, rated for High Wind Zones, with argon gas between the glass panes for improved insulation.

Unlike conventional aluminium double glazing, thermally broken frames have an insulating barrier that reduces heat transfer through the aluminium. Argon gas between the panes further reduces heat loss, improving the overall thermal performance of the window.

We also offer AluVent passive ventilation, allowing fresh air into the home while the windows remain closed — helping with airflow, moisture and condensation.

We love using large windows and doors to create bright, open spaces, but the more glazing a home has, the more important its performance becomes.

Better insulation. Better ventilation. A warmer, drier and more comfortable home.

It’s all part of building a home that performs as good as it looks.
