🔌⚡ Teamwork made the dream work on this substation fence rebuild in the Waikato⚡🔍

First on site were your Locate Legends, who got stuck into identifying the underground services. The fencing crew rolled in, ready to rebuild the fence with precision, muscle and a bit of Kiwi grit!

Today we pay our respects to Joan Chaytor who sadly passed away this week. Maurice and Joan started Chaytor Fences in 1972 and to this day we carry their legacy and name for great products and services which is such a privilege to do so.

To the Chaytor whānau we send our condolences as you farewell an integral member of your family.

Timber fencing is always a solid (pun intended) choice and has been keeping our Waikato team busy recently! 🤣

From post and rail for a Transpower substation, to a slider machine grade timber insert to match the fence to custom wooden style gates we are reminded the options are endless!

This beautiful home got a makeover, so we needed to make sure the fence and gate also stepped up it's game!!

Security matched with curb appeal was the goal so with that said, the team proposed the idea of a vertical slat "modern picket fence" style which ticked all the boxes for these customers!!

Both the fence and gate are custom powder coated to match the house joinery and was finished off with an automated swing gate with intercom system (thanks Chaytor Electrical and Security)

Rounding out Men's Health Week strong 💪

It's been really powerful here at Chaytor this week how this kaupapa has been embraced by the team. We have had people sharing their scores, some of the team have booked into see the GP, and even some being brave enough to tell their recent health struggles.

What we really love is the fact it has created chat and how important it is that our men look after themselves...not just for them but for their whanau.

To end the week, this morning we focused on mental health and well-being. To remind people how important and impactful their words are we have compiled some of our kawa cup nominations and shared some of themes that shone through about each other.

We would like to encourage other businesses to do the same! Share with your teammates today a kind word...you never know how much of an impact it could have.

One for the Tāne...

Today marks the start of Men's Health week here in Aotearoa and at Chaytor Co we are are taking a bit of initiative internally to encourage our men to take a moment to check in on their own well-being/health but also those of their team mates.

As we are in a very male dominated industry, we'd like to push the challenge out to others within the construction industry to do the same. Hopefully the more awareness we can raise, more men will start to put their health as a priority.

www.menshealthweek.co.nz is a great resource, and to begin with you can 'check your score' and have a bit of a look at how things are sitting for you health wise.

It's all about the small steps to a healthier you.

Our Sales Project Manager Keenyn wrote this & although he said it can be changed, the story telling by those who are out there doing the do is so powerful & authentic...it deserves a spot on the grid:

"Our customer required a closed in carport to keep their pride and joy protected and secure. The problem was however that a garage door, "traditional" sliding gate or set of double swing gates would not work due to various factors so we decided on an innovative solution using 2 sliding gates in unison on a double track system (same idea as wardrobe door systems found in most houses) allowing security AND privacy while still maintaining full functionality of the carport. The perfect blend of functionality, privacy and style to meet the unique needs".

A real blend of the Chaytor kawa in this job & no doubt this house is a talking point on the street.

Some of our team in the Waikato were kept busy for the first quarter of the year at the Atiamuri Substation where they replaced over 400m of concrete strips, fencing, electric possum wires and gates! Safe to say the client is over the moon...the possum's not so much 🤣

A project that was led by William which saw him as one of our recent Kawa cup winners. There were multiple nominations for William as all the team recognised his outstanding leadership over the duration of the three month job.

Kicking off a new week with sharing some of the smiling faces that are a part of the Chaytor Co whanau.

Kawa cup has still being going strong and we have all continued to celebrate those winners with high praise. What has been really cool is each month the nominations keep increasing which just shows how our kawa is really engrained in everything we do here. Our 2024 kawa cup winners so far have been Justin Mikara, William Robertson and Marshell Jaftha.

The Kawa cup is a small recognition of how we will continue to acknowledge people within our wider business. The recipient of this cup is someone who encompasses our kawa (how we execute as a business daily).

Everyone paddling in the same direction on the waka is all we strive for and with the nominations reflecting a culture of excellence, teamwork and appreciation of each other is a great place to be.

Well to kick off the recap of the last few months...

We have refreshed our website and we may be biased but we reckon it is pretty on point with showcasing just what Chaytor is all about...which is definetely more than just fences and gates. With new features added we hope you as our customers find the navigation user friendly and we feel really proud to be able to show the great work of our team through the imagery chosen.

The website covers both regions (BOP & Waikato) so have a look and you may even spot a new service we're now offering (more to come on that). 😉
