‘The Inside Job’ started with the owners coming to us after purchasing this early 2000s home in St Mary’s Bay, wanting to make the existing house feel distinctly their own.
Rather than changing the footprint, we focused on carefully editing and refining the interior through a new material palette, bespoke joinery and considered lighting. Oak timber, Dekton Nara benchtops and a soft, natural palette bring warmth and texture, while the kitchen and living spaces have been brought together to create a cohesive, light filled centre of the home.
Upstairs, the main bedroom, robes and ensuite were reworked, alongside the creation of a new home office and powder room. The changes create a more tailored and functional private level, while making the most of the existing roof form, natural light and views over Auckland Harbour.
‘The Inside Job’ is a project about personalising rather than starting again, showing how thoughtful design, materiality and detail can transform an existing home without changing its footprint.
