Make sure to get a certificate for your new heat pump installation!

We've had a few disturbing questions from potential customers lately.
One that keeps coming up is "Is it true heat pumps don't need to be certified when connected to an existing electrical supply?" This is very worrying because a heat pump is an electrical appliance and when connected to an electrical supply, whether new or existing, it must be certified. When you get a heat pump installed or replaced, make sure you ask for the COC or ESC from the installer. COC for a new unit, ESC for a replacement unit. What this question tells us is that there are heat pump installers out there that are connecting to an electrical supply and not providing a certificate for the install, even when asked, most likely because they are not electricians and cannot provide one, which also means by law, they should not be carrying out prescribed electrical work.
Remember, there must be a qualified electrician connecting and certifying your new heat pump install.
