🌿 Weekend Tips from Tess: End of September Garden Tasks! 🌿

As September comes to a close, it’s time to get your garden ready for a productive spring and summer season. Here’s what to focus on this weekend:

1. Prepare Your Veggie Garden: Now’s the perfect time to plant snow peas, onions, radishes, and herbs. In warmer areas, you can start planting capsicum, zucchini, and tomatoes. For cooler spots, try planting in trays first.
2. Tend to Your Lawn: After the winter rains, your lawn is likely in need of a nutrient boost. Fertilise it now to help it green up and grow strong throughout spring. Look out for patches that need extra attention.
3. Flower Garden Prep: Time to plant summer flowers like petunias, geraniums, and daisies! Don’t forget to stake larger plants like dahlias and delphiniums before they start growing tall to prevent them from flopping over.
4. Keep Pests at Bay: As temperatures rise, pests like slugs and snails will become more active. Protect your seedlings with natural traps or slug bait to keep your garden healthy.

Get these tasks done now to ensure your garden thrives through the warmer months ahead! Need help? The Great Garden Workz team is here to give your garden the care it needs. 🌱🌸

🌿 Weekend Tips from Tess: Get Your Garden Ready for Summer! 🌿

As spring progresses, now’s the time to set your garden up for a stunning summer. Here are a few tips to keep you on track this weekend:

1. Plant Baby Potatoes: It’s not too late to plant your first round of baby potatoes for a Christmas harvest. Make sure they’re in a sunny spot with well-drained soil.

2. Prepare Your Veggie Garden: Now’s the perfect time to plant crops like beetroot, peas, lettuces, and broccoli directly into the garden. If you’re planning on warmer crops like tomatoes and cucumbers, start them in trays indoors for transplanting when it gets warmer.

3. Keep an Eye on Pests: As the weather warms up, pests like slugs and snails become more active. Protect your young plants with beer traps or simply hand-pick these critters from your garden.

4. Feed Your Plants: Give your plants a boost with a liquid fertiliser to support their new growth. Healthy plants will be ready to thrive as the weather heats up.

Enjoy the sunny days ahead, and don’t forget to reach out if you need help getting your garden in tip-top shape! 🌞🌱

🌞 Weekend Tips from Tess: Get Ready for Summer! 🌞

Spring has sprung, and it’s a bustling time in the garden! Here’s what you can focus on this weekend to ensure a lush, vibrant garden by summer:

1. Plant Baby Potatoes: Now is the perfect moment to plant your first round of baby potatoes. Get them in the ground now, and they’ll be ready just in time for your Christmas feast!

2. Soil Preparation: Continue enriching your soil for spring planting. Add compost and well-rotted manure to give your plants the best start. A slow-release fertilizer will ensure sustained growth throughout the season.

3. Feed Your Plants: As your garden wakes up, it’s crucial to support new growth. Give your plants a light feeding with a liquid fertilizer to help them thrive during these longer days.

4. Pest Watch: Keep an eye out for slugs and snails as they emerge with an appetite for young seedlings and tender new growth. Protect your plants naturally—consider beer traps or simply hand-pick these pests off your plants.

5. Refresh Containers: It’s also a great time to refresh your hanging baskets and decorative containers. Clear out any old soil and pests, sanitise your containers, and fill them with fresh potting mix and vibrant new plants for a stunning summer display.

Remember, the weather can be unpredictable this time of year, so keep an eye on the forecast and protect warmth-loving plants from any unexpected cold snaps.

Happy gardening, and let’s make this summer one to remember! 🌻🌿
