NB Architects is a NZIA Practice.

NB Architects is a collaborative and creative studio that empowers our team to provide creative contributions from design stage & documentation to the delivery of projects for our clients. The people in our practice have a wealth of design and technical skills and experience that enable us to effectively meet the architectural challenges of people, community, context and space in housing, commercial, education, public sector, healthcare, heritage and environmental projects. Our staff is made up of Architects who are members of the NZRAB &Architectural Designers as members with ADNZ along with techincal and support staff. We work with a broad range of consultants to include the full range of services each project scope requires including:

Quantity surveyors, Engineers (structural, civil, fire, acoustic, building services, & electrical), Energy consultants, Landscape architects, Heritage consultants, Graphic designers (brand support & development, signage, way-finding), NZ GreenStar professionals, Furniture designers, Flooring designers.

A 115-year-old mystery. Can you help us solve it? There are some incredible original details inside Timaru's Theatre Royal, built in 1911.

As work continues on the refurbishment and restoration, these ornate plasterwork details have been refreshed with a new paint colour scheme, bringing them back to life. But there's one detail we're particularly curious about. Who is this man?

Who might have been important enough in 1911 to have their likeness included above the Royal Boxes at the Theatre Royal? Any ideas? We'd love to hear your theories in the comments.

We're also impressed with the intricate details in areas near the ceiling that you can't really appreciate from the floor. Does anyone know what type of leaves and flowers are represented here?

We had a bit of a surprise watching TV on Sunday night — one of our Queenstown homes made an appearance in the NZ series 'A Remarkable Place to Die.'
It’s always pretty special seeing a project we’ve designed out in the world, but seeing this one featured on screen, with The Remarkables providing the backdrop, was particularly cool.
Not a bad location for a bit of prime-time television!
Great architecture, incredible landscape… and apparently now a little bit of murder-mystery fame too. 👀
Did anyone else spot it?

Thanks to Sealco for stopping by the office and sharing information about their Sealco TileSEAL under-tile uncoupling system. It was great to learn more about products for tiled finishes for floors interior and exterior.

Thanks to Advanced Flooring for today's product presentation. It was great to see the range of commercial carpet tiles available, including these colourful options can be mixed and matched to create bespoke designs - even a family tartan.

Did you know traditional cut-pile carpet is available as a tiled system which is great for student accommodation, rest homes and rental properties.

And a special thanks for the jet plane lollies — they disappeared almost as quickly as they arrived! Apparently some people think they look like duck feet!!
