Windowmakers

Windowmakers Windowmakers is one of NZ’s largest (award winning) manufacturers of window and door systems.

Windowmakers was originally established eighteen years ago as First Windows and Doors North Harbour. In 2002, it was rebranded to Windowmakers which is now one of the largest manufacturers of window and door systems in the Auckland Region that produce custom made windows and doors. Windowmakers are dedicated to providing top quality products and a completely personalised service to our customers.

Our business is a success due to our uncompromisingly high standards, our strategy of choosing to work with a select number of customers, and our long-term relationships with our customers. Windowmakers aim to provide the ultimate service for our customers. We produce to the most exacting specifications and our stylish aluminium joinery products are capable of dealing with the harshest realities of the New Zealand climate. Windowmakers only use the best quality APL window and door product range including Metro Series, APL Architectural Series and Metro Series Thermal Heat. To achieve our high standard we use precision Italian Engineering in the form of electronic cutting and machining equipment to give your joinery an accurate perfect finish every time. At Windowmakers, we are proud of our difference and have won numerous awards that admire our difference in the industry. These include winning the 2011 Westpac Auckland North Business Awards Excellence in Marketing award, the 2011 Most Sustainable Business Award in the Bloom Her Business awards and the 2010 Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence awards in the Employer of choice award. From start to finish, however extensive your project, at Windowmakers we have the experience and expertise to assist you. Through specific customer focused solutions our expert team will work closely with you to understand and meet your particular requirements.

✨What do you think of the vertical screening here?

This stunning project by Studio2 Architects and JD Construction Co., features Windowmakers' windows as a key part of the gabled design.

This double story studio is located in Mt Eden, with the dormer room facing the street. The screening is a popular choice for privacy - it works in this build to allow natural light to filter through in a pleasing way, with the space still feeling personal and private.

Let us know what you think in the comments. We'll be at the upcoming Home Show - Friday 11th September at the Auckland Showgrounds - if you would like to discuss a project with us. More on that soon!

🏆 Award-winning design. Performance built in.

This remarkable Paerata home has taken home Regional Gold in the New Home over $4 million category at the 2026 Master Builders House of the Year Auckland/Northland/Coromandel competition — as well as the Regional Environmental & Sustainable Excellence Award.

Designed with sustainability and thermal efficiency in mind, the home brings together a high-performing building system, considered orientation and extensive glazing to create a comfortable living environment with an exceptional connection to the surrounding rural landscape.

Windowmakers’ large-format glazing and gabled windows draw natural light into the heart of the home and frame expansive rural views, while large sliding doors create a seamless connection with the outdoor living spaces.

We’re proud to have contributed the windows and doors to this award-winning project - designed by architect Jenny Walters and built by Create + Construct Ltd

🌟It's a double win for this Stanmore Bay beauty!

Fresh off claiming Home Magazine's Alt/Reno of the Year — this stunning renovation has now taken Regional Silver in the Master Builder's House of the Year Awards, 2026.

Congratulations to Jessop Architects and John Creighton Builders for transforming a beautifully situated, but tired bach, into 234sqm of laid-back beachfront luxury.

From the striking sandy-stone entry wall to the reimagined pitched roofline in Abodo cladding, every detail has been carefully considered.

Energy-efficient heating and cooling systems and solar panels with battery storage keep the home comfortable and sustainable year-round, with the excess going into the grid.

Aluminium joinery from Windowmakers plays a key role in the thermal envelope, framing the view of sand and sea while enabling the indoor-outdoor flow that makes this home feel so connected to its coastal setting.

🏆Two awards, one exceptional home — we're proud to have been part of it.

Large-format glazing and gabled windows from Windowmakers capture uninterrupted farmland and garden views from the open-plan heart of the home. Large sliders enable the living space to open to the covered outdoor dining and pool area.

⭐️The best results start long before installation - the finished product tells a story.

At Windowmakers, quality starts in the detail, in the site measure, in the manufacturing process, in the final checks before dispatch. Every project moves through a structured process designed to improve accuracy, reduce rework, and support first-time-right delivery.

By the time our windows and doors arrive on site, builders need confidence that the product is ready, correct, and aligned with the programme.

Being the best choice in windows and doors, means taking quality seriously at every stage, and achieving results like this.
