🏡 ST GILES PARK VIEW — PROJECT COMPLETE

After around 15 months on site, we’re incredibly proud to see St Giles Park View in Kilbirnie officially complete.

This impressive development of 20 new homes, including a number of dual-key properties, occupies a fantastic position at 44 Kilbirnie Crescent, overlooking Kilbirnie Park.

But there’s a lot more to this development than what you see from the street.

Sitting within an identified flood and tsunami risk area, St Giles Park View was designed from the outset with those natural hazards firmly in mind. The homes have been elevated above the identified flood and tsunami risk levels, incorporating raised floors and resilient foundations, which is why the street-facing homes sit so noticeably above the footpath.

It was an interesting challenge from both a design and construction perspective, and one we’re very proud to have been part of.

Firstly, a very special thank you to our clients at Urban Company, and particularly Marc Lock, Rory Spray, Jesse, Natasha and the MRG Property Ltd team.

Thank you for continuing to put your trust and faith in us to deliver your projects. We genuinely value the relationship we’ve built together and are proud to help bring your vision to life. It’s been fantastic watching St Giles Park View progress from plans on a page to the finished development standing there today.

A special mention to Rajan Singh and Dan Hewitt, who played an important part in the early stages of the project. Their methodology, careful planning and development of a realistic build programme helped break a complex project down into manageable stages from the outset. Their practical approach, experience and great eye for detail were invaluable throughout the build and contributed hugely to the successful delivery of St Giles Park View.

Design and Build Homes completed the main construction, while our team at Ninox Roofing & Cladding Services alongside Jonathan Grady and Frankie from JAC BuIlders delivered the roofing and metal-clad façade that gives the development so much of its distinctive character.

A project like this takes a huge team.

A big acknowledgement also goes to James and Cushla and their team at Solari Architects, whose design responded so cleverly to the challenges of the site, Barend and the team at Pillar Projects Limited, and MRG Civil for project management.

And, of course, none of these projects happen without the huge number of people behind the scenes and on site, in particular Dan Hewitt our leading hand LBP Carpenter, Johnny Grady from JAC Builders, and Logan Stoupe assisting on the vertical build 🙏

The development offers an enviable position overlooking Kilbirnie Park, with great sun and views, while being just a short walk from Kilbirnie’s shops and amenities and only minutes from Wellington Airport, Wellington Regional Hospital and the C*D.

The three-level homes in Block A offer a garage, bedroom and bathroom at ground level, spacious open-plan living overlooking the park above, with configurations on the top floor including additional bedrooms, bathrooms and study options.

Some people come to work; others become a huge part of the business and its story. For the past 15 years, Dan Hewitt has been exactly that. 👏

Craig first met Dan through cricket in the early 2000s, when he was coaching and captaining him. Dan was only 19 and looking for a career change, so Craig suggested he give building a go. Dan spent his first five years in the industry working for Craig at another company, before joining him in our current business, where he has now been for 15 years. That means Craig and Dan have worked together for more than 20 years!

Over the past 15 years, Dan has helped shape our business and has played an important role in training and mentoring our apprentices. No matter the weather or the challenges in front of him, Dan turns up, gets stuck in and gives his best. He is honest, reliable, incredibly loyal and always willing to help others.

Dan has also worked hard to keep developing his skills, completing qualifications in interior systems, carpentry, roofing and Level 5 Site Management, with the next qualification already in his sights.

We’re extremely proud of Dan and very grateful for everything he has contributed to our team and our business. We would also like to thank Steph, Emmy and Levi for the support they have given Dan throughout the journey.

Campbell Village is officially underway!

We’re excited to be part of bringing this fantastic new development in Karori to life.

Guaranteed no one has ever said..."I took my family to play a round of mini golf just to check out the toilet facilities"...but that was exactly what I did this weekend! 😄
And if you have been following our Top Up Kapiti page, you will know why.
With the need for a toilet facility at the Mazengarb Park Mini Golf course, Mal Bird approached a number of local Kapiti businesses to help out. The result exceeded expectations and was (what I consider) the perfect example of local business generosity, teamwork and community spirit ...giving their time, resources and skills to build it for free.
It feels even more special to see such goodwill and contributions during a time of such economic pressures.

Top Up Kapiti acknowledges these businesses with a well deserved standing ovation 👏👏
We’d also encourage everyone following our page to give them a bit of a plug and show them your support as well - even just by sharing our posts with family, friends and colleagues.
