To celebrate 90 years of delivering top-quality services, we’re proud to spotlight our role in the creation of Skellerup Industries Ltd state-of-the-art manufacturing and distribution facility in Christchurch, completed in 2016.

Spanning 18,900m², the project brought together Skellerup’s operations under one roof - a major step forward for a company that produces around 75% of the world’s milk teats and plays a vital role in global agriculture.

Foleys designed and installed the plumbing, drainage, and process services, including sewer, stormwater, gasfitting, compressed air, and vacuum systems, ensuring seamless integration with the wider build. Working alongside Calder Stewart Calder Stewart and other contractors, our team helped deliver a modern, efficient, and sustainable facility that supports Skellerup’s long-term goals.

We’re proud to have contributed to a project that strengthens New Zealand’s industrial sector and supports farmers worldwide.

When Brad Ellis joined Foleys in 2024, the economy was tight, not the obvious moment to launch a new business unit. Brad led the establishment of FOLEYS Drainage Department in Christchurch, separating it out from the wider plumbing division to give it clearer structure, focus, and momentum. It now operates as a specialised team, fully integrated with the rest of the business. Getting it up and running during an economic downturn is something Brad considers one of his proudest career achievements.
A hands-on leader with deep practical knowledge, Brad is all about building strong teams, solving real problems, and getting things done right. His favourite job to date? The Talley’s processing plant project, a great example of challenge, collaboration, and delivering value.
Outside of work, Brad is into hunting, fishing, and heading off on holidays with the family. He also dedicated 10 years as a volunteer firefighter across the Rolleston, Lincoln, and Oxford brigades, showing the same commitment to teamwork and community that he brings to every site.

✅ Outside of work: Hunting, fishing, and family holidays
✅ Past service: 10 years as a volunteer firefighter (Rolleston, Lincoln & Oxford)
✅ Big win: Launching and growing the Drainage Department
✅ Why drainage? “It’s practical, essential, and I’ve always liked working where the results are real.”

Precision, planning, and teamwork - all before most of the city woke up.

Last month, our Foleys Dunedin team supported a helicopter-assisted boiler lift at Otago House, safely removing a 535kg boiler from the rooftop and lifting a new 919kg unit into place.

Working closely with Helicopters Otago Ltd., their ground crew, and TMC traffic control, the lift was carried out with tight coordination, strong communication, and strict safety controls. Foleys was responsible for preparing the service room and final connections.

➤ Rooftop removal of old boiler (535kg)
➤ Lift-in of new unit (919kg) by twin-engine BK helicopter
➤ Ground-level precision from Foleys team
➤ Controlled site access and airspace, early-morning ex*****on

A fantastic example of how cross-team collaboration, pre-site planning, and specialist equipment come together to get the job done - safely and efficiently.

Well done to all involved 👏

This past weekend marked the inaugural Darren Wispinski Memorial Handicap Road Race, a race celebrating the life and legacy of our much-missed colleague and friend, Darren.
Darren joined Foleys back in 1991 and spent decades with us, embodying the same grit, loyalty, and determination that defined his cycling career. From his teenage racing days across New Zealand, to competing in Europe with the La Redoute Team, to his courageous 27-year battle with leukaemia - Darren showed us what endurance and strength really mean.
The 72 km road race and 10 km family fun ride brought together riders of all ages and abilities, with trophies across multiple categories.

🚴‍♂️💨 Congratulations to Hunter Gough, who took out the Memorial Handicap in 1 hour 40 minutes, and Andrew Ellis, first over the line after an epic sprint finish.

👏 A big shoutout to Foleys Director Chris Sutherland, who raced the full course, and to Craig Foley, who had the honour of handing out the trophies.

💛 We were proud to sponsor this event, ensuring Darren’s passion for cycling and community continues to inspire. Part of every entry went to Hato St John, a cause close to Darren’s heart.

To Karen, Ruby, Stella, Lucy, and all Darren’s whānau - thank you for letting us celebrate his life in the way he loved most: on the bike. This race will carry his spirit forward for years to come.

Next up in our FOLEYS people series is Michelle Priemus, our Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager. She has helped shape safer, healthier workplaces across a range of industries - from Fonterra to Te Whatu Ora and now at Foleys . She’s led the development and rollout of risk management systems and return-to-work programs that have delivered real results: fewer incidents, better recovery outcomes, and stronger safety cultures.

What drew her to health and safety? It wasn’t policies or paperwork - it was people. Michelle is fascinated by the behavioural side of safety, how thoughts, perceptions, and motivation influence actions, especially under pressure.

Since joining FOLEYS, she’s had the chance to visit every branch and business unit across the country, something she calls a career highlight in itself. “Connecting with workers across the business has been a real privilege.”

Outside of work, Michelle’s just as adventurous - whether it’s travelling, chasing adrenaline, or saying yes to something new.

✅ Strengths: Behavioural safety, system design, risk management
✅ Proud of: Leading safety improvements across large, complex organisations
✅ Outside of work: Adventure, travel, and embracing a little risk
