We would like to take a moment to acknowledge our most recent graduate engineers, Max, Ben and Sean!

Max and Ben completed their studies at University of Canterbury last year, and Sean finished at the University of Auckland - Waipapa Taumata Rau. All three attended their graduation ceremonies earlier this year, and scrubbed up pretty well in their caps and gowns too!

Congratulations to you all! A lot of hard work goes into reaching this point, it’s been awesome welcoming you into the Silvester Clark whanau over the past few months.

This July marks 47 years since Silvester Clark began providing structural engineering services across Aotearoa.

From our beginnings in the Manawatū, our team has grown to five offices across the North and South Islands. Along the way, we’ve had a front-row seat to the way our towns and cities have grown and changed.

There has been a great team behind Silvester Clark over the past 47 years. To everyone who has been part of that, thank you.

Over the years, our work has ranged from helping homeowners modify or build their dream homes to working alongside project teams on large new developments, and everything in between.

After 47 years, we still look forward to every new project and the people we get to work with along the way.

Congratulations to Bronwyn Swanson on her promotion to Associate.

Since joining our Hawke's Bay office in 2020, Bronwyn has played an important role in our continued growth in the region. With more than 20 years' experience across the building and development sector, she has built strong relationships with clients, councils and the wider project team, while bringing a practical approach to project management that helps projects move forward, and stay on track.

Her experience managing projects involving council processes, fire engineering and stormwater design, together with her ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, continues to create value for our clients and our business. Bronwyn's promotion recognises the significant contribution she has made and continues to make for Silvester Clark and our Hawke's Bay team.

A well-deserved recognition for Jay Auman, who was recently promoted to Senior Associate (January 2026).

Jay has played an important role in heading up our Christchurch office and continuing to strengthen our presence across the South Island. His technical expertise, leadership and practical approach have earned the respect of our team and clients, and he continues to be a key person across our business.

What stands out for Jay is not just his incredibly high level of technical capability, but Jay's willingness to support those around him. Whether it's mentoring younger engineers, helping solve complex engineering challenges or supporting clients, he's always willing to make time for others. His commitment to Silvester Clark, our clients and the wider engineering community makes this recognition thoroughly deserved.

With this promotion, Jay joins Adane Gebreyohaness, Nitin Edward and Peter Falloon as Senior Associates at Silvester Clark.

The Silvester Clark Consultants vs Contractors Cricket Clash returned to the Basin Reserve this April.

After taking the win in 2025, the Consultants put up a good fight this year, setting a solid score and looking to defend it, but the Contractors came through to take out the 2026 match.

It was a great turnout across both teams, with plenty of familiar faces on the field and watching on throughout the day.

A big thank you to Cricket Wellington on for their support, providing umpires and scorers and enabling full use of the Basin facilities. Of particular note was getting everyone’s names up on the main scoreboard again, quite a buzz for all those involved.

We’ll be back next year looking to take the shield back.

The Hawke’s Bay team headed back to “The Shed” in Havelock North earlier this month for an evening of pickleball.

A few newcomers to the sport joined in and picked it up quickly, with plenty of good games throughout the night. Scott and Max took out the win, coming up against Linda and Jane in the final.

Always good to get the team together for a bit of fun outside the office. 🏓

The Silvester Clark team recently had one of our residential projects appear on Grand Designs New Zealand.

The Martinborough home, which aired on Sunday 17 May, involved a detailed architectural build with large open spaces, significant structural steel elements, natural stone detailing, and a strong focus on integrating the home into the surrounding rural landscape.

Projects like this involve a huge amount of coordination between the client, architect, consultants, and contractor team to bring some very bespoke ideas to life in a practical and buildable way.

A cool one for the team to see on screen, and a nice example of the detailed residential work our engineers are involved in around the country.
