Old cladding isn't just an aesthetic problem. It's a weathertightness liability.
Across Wellington, thousands of homes built in the 80s and 90s have cladding systems that are now failing. Moisture is getting into the walls, framing is rotting, and damage is building up that won't be visible until it becomes way too serious.
In New Zealand, significant reclad work is Restricted Building Work. It requires building consent, council inspections at key stages, and a Code Compliance Certificate on completion.
Reclading needs to be done once, done right and properly documented.
