Awesome little study nook done and dusted.
The perfect space for a creative writer.
Maximising every nook and cranny to use for space and storage in a house with zero available.

Quite a cool little project. Just waiting on the rosewood roller door system from Sage doors and under stairs bookcases to design and propose hopefully for stage two later in the year.
Thanks to the team for their mahi.

Simple effective face lift completed in Karori.
This is a great way to save money and bring a bit of spark back in.

There’s a-bit going on here behind the scenes, facelifts aren’t always just swap in swap out. So you have to be on point or it can go south really fast.

Thanks the Sage Doors for the panels and all the extras getting to us so quickly. I only messed up one. 🤦🏻‍♂️

We adjusted the existing hinge locations and installed new Hettich soft close hinges.
We re-jigged and re-built the drawers so the lines at the top matched to suit our setout.

We also got to play around with the Lamello again to build a fixing less rangehood carcass. Thanks Jeremy Patmore for the loan!

An added bonus was I was able to reglaze the windows to an Arctic detailed glass which I haven’t used before.

Over all it’s a great way to freshen the kitchen up if the budgets too tight for a full rebuild. On to the next tricky one!

This repair was completed by us in 2023. What was there before, the damage that repair caused, then our process.

Multiple others tried and failed to keep this small area water tight. Even after a full re-roof, the photos show the before quality, and ours following.

A few days following the worst flooding wellington has suffered in decades in 2026, these clients reached out with this feedback.

“Jay, In times of high rainfall and strong winds ( like over the past few days), Lyn and I are very grateful for the outstanding work you did in identifying the ‘leaking roof’ problem in our house, with water dripping into our bedroom. Previous attempts to fix the problem had been unsuccessful. Your professionalism and building skills are a great credit to you. We also were very grateful for your skilled work in replacing rotten beams in our carport”.

Craftsmanship proven, real world results delivered. Thanks Roger and Lyn, it was our pleasure.

Rough in all done. Now for the finicky stuff.

Now we’re adding niches and PTO drawers to steal wasted space in the garage to make use of this narrow area. With that little addition we need to rip more linings off below the windows to secure new structure in to allow for the weight of the drawers when I build them.

I love a design and build jobbie. It takes up nearly 100% of your mental capacity and you end up dreaming of work to nut out the complexities, but it’s rad to see what you can come up with and then designing the supports and structures needed.

Will be a big punt next week with jobs stacking up and weather closing in.

Nice little gap filler installing some of Crown Joinery’s windows while the weathers playing nice for once. 4 new windows, 2 retro fit French doors and euro hardware.
Great to get the next gen into some of this work to set the standard and see the growth.

We’re very picky with our window installs. We’ve spent a lot of time developing our system in conjunction with the building code to ensure the install matches the joinery quality.
Understanding how moisture works, condensation within frames and airflow is critical.
Deep flashings, airflow gaps between sill hoof and flashing, drain ports in the underbead, back to wall flashings and tight scribers all go hand in hand.
If one area is weak you compromise the joinery and the building.

Job done, onto the next.

Almost finished! 😮‍💨😮‍💨 what an absolute pump this year to get it back on track. Only a few minor details left to complete and it is done.

It’s had its highs and lows, just like any building project but more than anything it’s been one of the biggest self appointed tests to date. It’s truly pushed me to my limit, we’ve sacrificed a lot of life and savings to get this done.
Totally worth it, nothing good comes easy or cheap.
