Beautiful Boulcott Build

The client’s vision for this build is to transform their existing home into a spacious, functional family home with a fourth bedroom, ensuite and improved open-plan living. They want better flow to the outdoor deck, more natural light and spaces that work well for their family now and into the future.

Project Update: A work in progress happening at Boulcott. Roof is on, now time for cladding. Watch this space!

Not all quotes are created equal. πŸ“‹

Rod and Fern got a quote from another builder before coming to us. His words: "big lump sums that seemed to be doubling up β€” and it came to a horrendous amount."

No breakdown. No clarity. Just a big number and a shrug.

That's unfortunately common in this industry. And it's exactly why we do things differently β€” detailed, line by line, nothing hidden.

If you're comparing quotes right now and something doesn't add up, it probably doesn't.

"The cost of building is horrendous." 😬

Rod said it. We all know it. Building in NZ right now isn't cheap.

But here's what Rod and Fern from Kilbirnie also said β€” we kept it well within budget and came out exactly where we said we would.

No blowouts. No moving goalposts. Just what we quoted.

That's the standard we hold ourselves to.

The cheapest quote isn't always the best one. πŸ’‘

It's tempting to go with the lowest number β€” but that number doesn't tell the whole story.

A quote is only as good as what's in it. Is everything actually included? Are the materials specified? Have the subbies priced properly?

A low quote that's missing half the scope isn't a saving β€” it's a problem waiting to happen.

Know what you're comparing before you decide.

"It didn't feel like a risk." 🏑

That's what Rod and Fern said after going through their quote with us β€” line by line, no confusion, no surprises.

"The most satisfying thing was to get such a detailed budget from you. To be able to go through it line by line..."

Hiring a builder shouldn't feel like a leap of faith. A good quote should give you clarity, not more questions.

That's how we work.

"It's just a small job β€” do I really need drawings?" πŸ“

Yes. And here's why.

Drawings aren't just for the builder.

They're so that everyone β€” you, us, the architect, the council, the subbies β€” is looking at exactly the same thing.

No assumptions. No one quoting on something different. No surprises halfway through when someone says "oh, I thought you meant..."

A good set of drawings means everyone is aligned before a single thing gets touched.

That's how you protect your budget and your timeline.

"You had our interests at heart." ❀️

That's Rod from Newtown. And honestly β€” that should be the bare minimum from any builder you hire.

"The highlight of the whole thing for me was that I felt confident that we were being looked after, that we were working together..."

Not just a contract. Not just a quote. A builder who's actually on your side.

That's what we aim to be on every single job.
