In the lead up to Xmas we decided to volunteer out at Wellington Riding for Disabled.
RDA provided 2800 rides this year for deserving patrons and the list is still long for spaces.
Three of our team went out to battle hill for a day, and they:
⁃ spread manure through the empty paddocks
⁃ helped move some horses
⁃ checked water lines and ballcocks to all troughs, making repairs as needed
⁃ general cleaning of the arena walls and kickboards
RDA is close to my heart. My son was a rider there before moving to Hohepa Hawke’s Bay and is now a rider at Napier RDA.
RDA at Battle Hill Regional Park is a world class facility we were privileged to have a hand in bringing to the community after many years of fundraising. I encourage anybody to get involved by contacting them to ask how you can help.
It doesn’t take much of your time to make a massive difference to them. You don’t have to be a volunteer at actual ride sessions to keep the place thriving.
I have posted an article in the comments of our story and involvement, if it moves just one person to help in some way then I feel like I’ve done my job for today.
