At “The Perch”, warm timber, deep eaves, and handcrafted screening come together to create an exterior that’s as functional as it is beautiful—offering privacy, shade, and a timeless architectural expression.

The cedar sliding screens bring a quiet rhythm to The Perch.

Providing shade, shelter and privacy, they filter light into soft, shifting patterns that change throughout the day. A simple architectural element that balances function with atmosphere, creating spaces that feel both protected and connected to their surroundings.

“The Perch” creates a seamless transition from the warmth and character of the original timber-lined bach to a light-filled bedroom retreat nestled amongst the trees.
Cedar sliding screens provide privacy, sun shading, and a constantly shifting play of filtered light amongst the trees.

The Perch — a master bedroom extension inspired by the joy of a treehouse.

Playful angles and carefully framed views create a space that feels immersed in the canopy, with a window seat nestled amongst the trees offering a view through to the beach and sea beyond.

Nestled amongst the trees, “The Perch” is a master suite designed as a quiet escape from the everyday.

Connected to the original Bach, it offers a place to slow down, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding landscape - whether that’s waking up to birdsong, watching the light filter through the trees, or simply taking a moment to pause.

A look back at this contemporary rural home that blends traditional gable forms and modern living spaces. The exposed rafters and clean lines continue from the inside to outside spaces, along with dark stained cedar and oversized Oamaru stone cladding complimenting the rural aesthetic.

The central living space of our Titoki House features timber beams which appear to float above the glazed facades to each side, each room is designed to feel like a retreat with access to an outdoor area and different outlook, yet they all connect back to the main central living area.
