Over recent weeks, the Aspect crew have been carrying out our routine Kauri protection maintenance across a large area of Northland, covering a lot of country and some challenging terrain. This work has included visiting what is possibly the most remote Kauri protection station in Northland, located at Hauturu High Point in the Waima Forest.
Alongside our ongoing maintenance work, we’re continuing to develop and improve our own Kauri protection equipment. One of our latest developments is our newly installed mat system at Tāne Mahuta, which has replaced the previous sprayer system.
General feedback from the public when using the typical units used in Kauri protection is that they don't particularly like being sprayed on the legs when passing through those types of stations. In response, we’ve developed and installed a self-priming mat system that provides an alternative way of applying the required Kauri protection treatment while creating a more comfortable experience for visitors.
We’re proud to continue developing practical solutions that improve both Kauri protection and the experience of the people visiting these important places
