Not every project starts with an empty site

From beach house to permanent home.

This alteration and addition in Matarangi transforms an existing 2-bedroom bach into a home designed for permanent living.

The challenge wasn’t just adding space, it was making sure the new work felt integrated with the original house and supported the clients’ long-term lifestyle.

Working closely with Woods Construction throughout both the design and construction process allows us to refine details early, solve problems before they arise on site, and create a smoother experience for our clients from concept through to completion.

Three years ago this King’s Birthday weekend, we packed up everything we owned, having sold our home in Hawke’s Bay, and moved to Matarangi full-time.

It felt like a huge leap at the time.

We traded convenience for lifestyle, moved into 60m² of unfinished family beach house extension while we built our own home, and spent the next few years juggling builds, businesses, kids.

It’s not always easy but looking back, we’d do it all again.

Our boys are growing up surrounded by beaches, bikes, fishing and freedom. We’re building businesses, become part of a little community, and created a life that feels right for our family.

Sometimes the biggest risks lead to the best decisions.

Three years on, we’re grateful we took the leap. ❤️

The build journey is a big one.
It takes trust, patience, collaboration… and a whole lot of problem solving behind the scenes that the client never has to see.

We’re incredibly grateful to our clients who choose to put their trust in us to help bring their vision to life. Every project is personal, and we never take that responsibility lightly.

Because good design takes time. It evolves through conversations, ideas, site constraints, budgets, council requirements, engineering, refining details and finding the balance between how a home looks, feels and functions.

What we can promise is that we’ll go above and beyond to create a home that feels considered, practical, beautiful and uniquely yours.

The goal is to make it feel effortless for the client - even when there’s a huge amount happening behind the scenes to make that possible.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums, step mums, grandmothers and mother figures out there 🤍

Especially to the mums balancing work, family life, school runs, sport, chaos, snacks, schedules and everything in between - somehow still making it all happen and making everything feel like home.

Wishing you a day to slow down, be appreciated, and enjoy the people you love most.
