McDonough Contracting will be closing for the day on Tuesday 15 July to allow staff to farewell Keith Whitson. Keith has been with the company for the last four years, predominantly as a mower operator, his skills and wisdom however, meant he could turn his hand to anything. Keith passed away last week after a short illness. Keith's wife Wendy, is our Contracts and Health and Safety Manager, she has been Bruce's right hand person since the inception of the business. Our thoughts are with Wendy at this incredibly sad time.

Wheels at Wanaka 2025 done and dusted! Three trips from Mataura and two from Ashburton with Vera the Vauxhall Viva, the C1200 Toy truck, TD8B bulldozer, the 4WD 634 and 674 and the 634 two wheel drive and the hydro 70 on the Eagle and Western Star transporters. A big thanks to our drivers John McDonough, Bill Reynolds and Karl McDonough as well as other supporters Peter McDonough,Trudie Jamieson and Rosemarie Reynolds . Team work makes the dream work :)

A successful weekend in Cromwell for the Aotearoa Production Cup, two days of racing, five heats and a 20 lap final. Congratulations to the winners and the organising committee.

This year we sponsored a trophy for the female champion. Four females contested in the 42 strong field. Two made it to the final within the top 24 drivers. The final was fiercely contested with Asha Clements leading for 19 laps, with Laura Heads managing to get in front in the last lap! Congratulaions girls, may this inspire more females to get involved.

Congratulations to our very own Wendy Whitson for winning the 2023 Civil Contractors NZ - Southland Person of the Year Award for her 20 plus years of administration expertise. Very well deserved and so proud of her accomplishment. Well done Wendy!

A big thank you to the team for preparing trucks for the Gore Truck Show last weekend. Special thanks to Bill Reynolds, Chris Keillor, Greg Butt and Malcolm Scammell. Winning the best Isuzu award was the icing on the cake!

Bruce is so pleased to have his latest restoration on display at Crank Up in Edendale this weekend. It isn't quite finished but definitely enjoying its maiden outing! A big thank you to all those involved with getting it this far.
