First Aider (Contract)

Location: Buka, Autonomous Region of Bougainville

Gernic Investments Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced First Aider to join our project team. This role is responsible for providing emergency first aid support, promoting workplace health and safety, and ensuring compliance with ESIP and DT Global HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide immediate first aid and emergency response on site.
• Maintain first aid supplies and the site incident and accident register.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks on health and safety awareness.
• Support site inspections, emergency drills, and medical incident reporting.
• Coordinate referrals and medical evacuations with local health facilities when required.
• Report daily to the Project Supervisor.

Requirements
• Current PNG St John Ambulance First Aid Certificate or Certificate III in First Aid.
• Minimum two years' experience in construction, civil works, mining, or donor-funded projects.
• Good communication skills in English and Tok Pisin.
• Physically fit and able to work in remote site conditions.

Environment & Safety Officer (Contract)

Location: Buka, Autonomous Region of Bougainville

Gernic Investments Limited is seeking an experienced Environment & Safety Officer to join our project team. This role is responsible for implementing and monitoring Health, Safety, Environment and Social (HSES) requirements while ensuring compliance with ESIP, DT Global and PNG regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Implement and monitor the ESIP, DT Global HSES, GEDSI and Safeguards Management Plan.
• Conduct daily site inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments and toolbox talks.
• Ensure compliance with PNG labour, safety and environmental legislation.
• Manage incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
• Oversee waste management, erosion and sediment control, and community safety.
• Deliver HSE inductions and maintain audit-ready HSE records.
• Prepare weekly HSES, GEDSI and Safeguards reports.
• Report daily to the Project Manager on site operations.

Requirements
• Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety, Diploma in Environmental Science, or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum three years' experience in construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with DFAT, ESIP or donor-funded HSES requirements is an advantage.
• Strong reporting, leadership and Microsoft Office skills.
