The Makati Subway: A Dream Stalled by Politics

Imagine a subway zipping you from Ayala to Guadalupe — easing traffic, boosting mobility, and transforming daily life in Metro Manila. That was the vision.

But today, that dream is hanging by a thread. The contractor has declared the project no longer feasible, blaming the ongoing territorial tug-of-war between Makati and Taguig.

Once again, politics is standing in the way of progress.
While cities argue over boundaries, it’s the people — the workers, the students, the everyday commuters — who are left to suffer from delayed development.

As we head into the next election, let’s remember: We need leaders who will fight for real progress — not petty political victories.
