CARPIO RESIDENCE

Designing this home was a particularly meaningful experience for the designer, as the project was entrusted by their ninang and ninong, Mr. & Mrs. Carpio—individuals who hold a special place in their life, having served as principal sponsors at their wedding.

Mrs. Carpio envisioned a dream home within one of Pagadian’s well-known subdivisions, situated on a unique through lot with dual frontage facing both north and south. One side of the property also opens toward a scenic ocean view, presenting an opportunity to create a design that responds thoughtfully to both orientation and surroundings.

From the outset, the objective was to develop a residence that feels naturally connected to its environment while maintaining a strong architectural identity. The resulting concept embraces a modern contemporary approach, carefully treating both frontages to establish a welcoming and visually balanced presence from either side of the property.

The overall design direction focused on achieving a clean and refined aesthetic through the use of balanced proportions, crisp architectural lines, and a curated palette of materials. Warm wood accents were intentionally incorporated to soften the modern language of the structure, creating a home that feels elegant yet comfortable and inviting.

The final design reflects not only the Carpio family’s vision and lifestyle, but also a thoughtful approach to space, function, and character—resulting in a home that is practical in layout, refined in detail, and quietly expressive in form.

𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗝𝗔𝗗𝗔 𝗠𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗘𝗨𝗠

When our client approached us, it was not just to build a mausoleum. It was to create a place where his parents could still feel close.

He shared a simple but deeply personal vision. 𝗛𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲. Not cold. Not distant. But familiar. A space where every visit would not feel like loss, but like coming back to them.

We carried that with us through every step of the design.

Instead of following the traditional language of memorial structures, we shaped the space with the warmth and quiet comfort of a resthouse.

Something intimate. Something human. A place that holds not just memory, but presence.

For us, this project became more than architecture. It became a story about love, about longing, and about creating a space where connection does not end, even in rest.

𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 | 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗗

This home went through a bit of a journey.

The initial idea was a classic American colonial feel: something warm, familiar, and homey, with a bit of modern mixed in. After a few revisions and back-and-forths, we landed on something that made more sense for the client: a modern design, but still carrying some American accents in the details.

Now it’s finally coming together.

What’s nice about this one is seeing how the space fits the people it was made for. The house looks good, but more importantly, it works for their day-to-day life as a young, growing family.

And at this stage, that’s really what matters.

Not just how it looks when it’s finished, but how it’s lived in after.
