Mabuhay, Pilipinas! Atenistang Scout, Maaasahan!

As the most prominant symbol of our country, there have to be certain rules that we must follow, as we must know what we must do in order to respect the flag, and what not to do so that the significance of the flag may be kept. Today we focus on the do's and dont's concerning our National Flag.

Today, we focus on the evolution of the Philippine flag. Multiple variations of the flag have been made, both in times of peace and war. The first five iterations of the Philippine flag were red and white as these were made in times of war. The first ever Philippine flag with blue, red, yellow and white colors was made as the 7th iteration, and all the designs up till now follow this design.

On the third day of the National Flag Days, we discuss about the very backbone of these days : The Philippine Flag. The four colours of this flag each represent an important value or a piece of history that the country upholds.

The Philippines celebrates May 28 as National Flag Day, the beginning of the Flag Days which span from May 28 to June 12. Prior to President Diosdado Macapagal's Presidential Proclamation No. 274 which sets National Flag Day to May 28, the country celebrated it on June 12, Independence Day. May 28 also symbolizes the first time the National Colors were revealed at the victory of the Philippine Revolutionaries over the Spanish Forces on the Battle of Alapus at Imus, Cavite.

With pride, we, the Scouts of the Ateneo Scouting Movement (Ateneo de Manila High School), swear allegiance to the Flag of the Philippines, and the Republic for which it stands. As citizens of a sovereign nation, we swear to protect and uphold its legacy, heritage and culture. On our honor, we will do our best to do everything in our power to pass on a better Philippines to the next generation.

The Ateneo De Manila High School Scouting Movement (AJHS ADVANCED ASM-2 and ASHS Scouting) joins the Filipino people in commemorating the National Flag Day.

Beginning today, May 28, until the end of the National Flag Days, June 12, we shall be posting information regarding the Philippine Flag so that we may continue to appreciate and give respect to the Flag and the nation that it represents.
