Which is just the right thing to do.
For information, we the Cebu Anglers from different clubs are responsible anglers.
We practice Catch-and-Release or CnR for the endangered species like sharks and rays. We don't intentionally catch these species and we don't like it since these species take time and effort to land/boat.
But before we release it we make sure to detach the jig/hooks from the endangered fish. The jig is heavy, made of metal usually lead, with two to four big hooks. The fish will suffer if we just simply cut the line, as some FB Anglers are saying, and the fish will carry with it the jig dragging the line.
We have videos to prove it.
