Update of Duplex in Newtown Estates, Cebu City
The first unit of the duplex is almost ready for occupancy and is up for sale. A modest 3 bedroom house with a plunge pool located in a gated community in the southern part of Cebu City.
The house is situated atop the mountainous parts of Cebu City and affords an overlooking view of the city and sea. The large tree between the two houses has been preserved to provide shade from the afternoon sun and to add softness to the hard edges of the building materials.
The kitchen is located in front to provide some privacy to the living and dining areas, as well as a scenic view of the subdivision. Solid wood doors are installed to provide increased safety. Wooden stairs and handrails give a premium feel to the interior. Rescued wooden planks are also used as accents wherever applicable so we continue to align with our goals to design sustainably. The master bedroom faces southeast, and is where one can take in the commanding view of the city and sea below.
The plunge pool is tucked away in the basement, concealed with a bagakay fence. While one cannot practice their swimming, it can be a quaint respite for the residents after a hard day of work, or a centerpiece for social gatherings.
The residence stands out in this generally traditional-style neighborhood as a contemporary newcomer blending the simple lines, volumes and tones of minimalism, with the natural warmth of wooden colors and textures.
