“𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 + 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱”, 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮 “𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿.”

Located at the heart of Cebu City, Philippines, this project describes the brand essence as “𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 + 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱”, with comfort as the central brand idea. The brand design direction is essentially “𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿”, a hybrid between a serviced apartment and a hotel.

The design philosophy builds around an international brand with utmost efficiency and contemporary hospitality. The guest shouldn't feel like they are entering a generic hotel room, instead, the experience should suggest “𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.”

The brand identity uses calming blue tones combined with neutral oak hues. The oak tones are deliberately connected to warmth and comfort, while the blues communicate calmness, stability and reliability.

Not overly luxurious or flashy. The luxury is more about comfort, functionality and quality.

A hotel is more than a place where guests stay, it can also serve as a representation of the history, traditions, values, and artistic expressions of a particular community. By incorporating cultural identity into interior design, hotels can create spaces that are meaningful, memorable, and connected to their location.

In this project, we express cultural identity through the use of traditional materials, patterns, colors, and craftsmanship. Local materials such as wood, stone, woven fibers, ceramics, and natural textiles can reflect the environment and heritage of a region. Traditional patterns and motifs may also be incorporated into carpets, wall treatments, furniture, curtains, and decorative elements.

Local craftsmanship is another important element of culturally inspired hotel interiors. Handmade furniture, artwork, textiles, pottery, and other decorative objects can showcase the skills of local artisans. This not only strengthens the visual identity of the hotel but can also support local communities and preserve traditional crafts.

A culturally responsive hotel interior does not simply decorate a space with traditional objects; it tells a story about the people, history, and environment of the place, giving guests a more memorable and authentic experience.

Hospitality design is more than creating attractive hotels, resorts, or restaurants. It is about designing spaces that provide comfort, functionality, and memorable experiences for guests.

On this hotel project in the South of Philippines, we create a unique identity by integrating local culture and heritage into the design. This allows hospitality spaces to reflect the history, traditions, and values of a destination while offering guests an authentic cultural experience. Incorporating culture and heritage into hospitality design helps preserve local identity and creates a strong sense of place.

Instead of using generic or international styles, designers can celebrate the uniqueness of a location by highlighting its traditions, architecture, craftsmanship, and natural environment. This not only enhances the guest experience but also supports cultural preservation and promotes sustainable tourism.

Guests today increasingly seek meaningful travel experiences. They want to connect with the local community, understand its history, and experience its traditions. Hospitality spaces that incorporate cultural elements often leave a lasting impression, encouraging positive reviews, repeat visits, and stronger destination branding.

Sustainability has become an important consideration in modern architecture as the world faces environmental challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and pollution.

We designed this sustainable building block with a vision to minimize environmental impact while providing strength, durability, and energy efficiency. The design process involves selecting eco-friendly materials, reducing waste, building performance modelling, conserving energy, and ensuring long-term performance.

On this vision, we used environmentally friendly materials like recycled materials, agricultural waste, and natural fibers. These materials reduce the demand for virgin resources and help divert waste from landfills.

Above all is energy efficiency. We provide good thermal insulation, proper building orientation to reduce the need for cooling by evaluating the facade through "Building Performance Simulation. We significantly reduce the cooling load by orienting majority of the condo units at the north. We also used materials with high insulating properties to maintain comfortable indoor temperatures, lowering energy consumption and reducing greenhouse gas.

Water conservation was also incorporated into the design. We used native plants for its landscape thats doesnt require more water. The plumbing system are designed to improve rainwater management or support green building systems. By reducing water usage, these blocks contribute to the responsible management of natural resources.

The Southern Philippines is blessed with the most beautiful coastlines in Southeast Asia. White pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, rich marine biodiversity, and vibrant local cultures.

We designed this resort to reflect the local culture and natural surroundings. We integrate traditional Filipino design elements, such as nipa-inspired roofs, bamboo accents, and open-air structures, combined with modern amenities to create a unique and comfortable guest experience.

This resort includes beachfront villas, family cottages, luxury suites, restaurants, swimming pools, wellness spas, and recreational facilities. Connected pathways are to preserve natural landscapes and provide easy access to the beach. Large windows and open spaces can maximize natural lighting and ventilation, reducing energy consumption.

Recreational activities such as snorkeling, diving, kayaking, island hopping, and cultural tours can enhance the attractiveness of the resort. Dedicated areas for water sports and eco-tourism activities provide entertainment while promoting environmental awareness.

As architect with a passion for creating thoughtful, functional, and inspiring spaces, he specializes in residential and hospitality design. He brings a fresh perspective to every project, combining contemporary aesthetics with practical solutions tailored to clients' lifestyles and business goals. He had successfully delivered a wide range of residential, hospitality, and mixed-use developments.

Known for a collaborative approach and attention to detail, he strives to create spaces that enhance the quality of life for users while respecting the surrounding community and environment. He combines technical expertise with creative vision to develop designs that respond to both client needs and environmental considerations. He worked closely with multidisciplinary teams in Singapore, ensuring that each project achieves high standards of quality, efficiency, and innovation.

In addition to professional practice, he remains committed to continuous learning and staying current with emerging trends, technologies, such as computational design tools to better improve the design workflow of IDA. He continues to pursue excellence in architecture, transforming ideas into meaningful spaces that inspire, serve, and endure.

𝗔 𝗙𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀.

We designed this residence as harmonious fusion of architecture, climate responsiveness, and elevated living experiences. More than simply providing shelter, we embrace nature, maximize comfort, and create seamless connections between indoor and outdoor environments.

Our design lies on responding intelligently to the Philippine’s warm climate, abundant natural light, seasonal rainfall, and lush landscapes. We prioritizes natural ventilation, allowing prevailing breezes to flow freely through living spaces, reducing reliance on mechanical cooling while enhancing occupant comfort. Large openings, operable windows, and open-plan layouts promote cross-ventilation and establish a strong relationship with the surrounding environment.

This luxury tropical residence is a seamless integration of indoor and outdoor living. Expansive terraces, covered verandas, infinity pools, landscaped courtyards, and outdoor entertainment areas extend the living experience beyond the building envelope. These spaces become natural extensions of the home, offering opportunities for relaxation, social gatherings, and wellness-oriented lifestyles.

Natural stone, sustainably sourced timber, textured concrete, and locally inspired finishes create a sophisticated aesthetic while ensuring durability in humid tropical conditions. High ceilings, deep roof overhangs, sun-shading devices, and carefully oriented facades help mitigate heat gain and protect interiors from intense sunlight and heavy rainfall.
