a technical infographic illustrating different types of roof flashing and their specific functions in protecting a building's structure from water infiltration. Flashing consists of thin pieces of impervious material (usually metal) installed to prevent water from entering joints or angles.
The diagram is organized into six distinct panels, each showing a specific flashing profile and its application.

1. L-FLASHING
• Design: A simple 90-degree angle bracket.
• Function: It is installed where a sloped roof meets a vertical parapet wall.
• Key Purpose: Inhibits water infiltration at the junction between the roof tiles and the parapet wall.

2. DRIP FLASHING (STANDARD)
• Design: A U-shaped or "cap" profile that sits over the top of a wall.
• Function: It covers the top of a parapet wall.
• Key Purposes: 1. Protects the top of the parapet against "peeling" or masonry degradation.
• Prevents water from entering the junction where gutters meet the parapet.

3. EXTERNAL OR ABUTMENT FLASHING
• Design: A "stepped" or "Z" profile designed to sit against a wall and overlap the roof surface.
• Function: Used where a roof surface ends against a vertical wall.
• Key Purpose: Protects against water infiltration specifically at the transition point between the vertical wall and the sloped roof.

4. DRIP FLASHING WITH LONG FL**GE
• Design: Similar to standard drip flashing but with one side extending further down the wall.
• Function: Provides extra coverage for the vertical face of a parapet.
• Key Purposes: 1. Protects the parapet against peeling.
• Provides a more secure seal at the gutter junction by extending the "drip" zone further down.

5. DRIP FLASHING WITH EXTENDED FL**GE
• Design: A hybrid design that caps the wall and extends outward to cover the start of the roof tiles.
• Function: Acts as both a wall cap and a transition piece to the roof.
• Key Purposes: 1. Prevents water from running down the external face of the parapet.
• Inhibits infiltration at the junction between the tile and the parapet.

6. INTERNAL FLASHING
• Design: A complex, "trough-like" profile.
• Function: Often used in valleys or internal corners where different roof sections meet at irregular angles.
• Key Purposes: 1. Inhibits infiltration between the parapet and the roof.
• Acts as a collection point to capture water from roof cutouts in areas with irregular or difficult angles.
