ARTEMIS II CREW IS BACK HOME

Artemis II crew safely returned to Earth on the flight deck of USS John P. Murtha, a United States transport ship used for spacecraft retrieval operations, after they were extracted from the Orion spacecraft following a sea landing.

Data collected by the crew will help shape the next missions to the Moon, as NASA is preparing to send astronauts on increasingly difficult journeys, exploring more groundwork required to reach new heights.

The results of this year’s Civil Engineering Licensure Examination highlight just how challenging the profession truly is. A significant 64.95% of examinees did not pass, reinforcing the reality that the Civil Engineer board exam remains one of the most difficult licensure examinations in the Philippines.

Out of a total of 18,370 examinees, only 35.05% successfully passed. Notably, a large portion of these takers, estimated at around 30%, were repeat examinees on their second or even third attempt. This reflects the perseverance and determination required to earn the title of a licensed civil engineer.

This year produced 16 topnotchers, with some examinees sharing identical scores, resulting in tied rankings. Leading the list are Rico Elao from Cebu Technological University-Main Campus and Marc Zedrijk Pasumbal from Mapua University in Manila, who both secured the Top 1 spot with the same rating, an impressive achievement that showcases excellence from two respected institutions.

Among all schools, the University of Saint Louis in Tuguegarao stood out as the only university with at least an 80% passing rate among its examinees, making it the top-performing school for this examination cycle. This distinction highlights the institution’s strong academic preparation and commitment to engineering education.

Overall, the results serve as both a reality check and an inspiration. While the passing rate may be low, it emphasizes the high standards of the profession. For those who did not make it this time, their journey does not end here, many of today’s successful engineers once stood in the same position. Persistence, discipline, and faith remain key to eventually achieving that long-awaited license.

Civil engineers plan and oversee the construction of roads, bridges, buildings, water systems, and other public works, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and durable.

Newly licensed civil engineers in the Philippines typically earn around ₱18,000 to ₱25,000 per month. Opportunities abroad offer much higher salaries, ranging from about ₱80,000 to over ₱200,000 per month, but usually require several years of experience.
