Design Exercise for a Young Couple's Condo Unit
The couple already had an initial plan in mind but i guess there are still some areas to improve. Here, i had to rearrange some of the spaces to induce a flow for its users.
The idea is to create a gradual transition between the semi-private to private spaces in a counter-clockwise flow.
The slanted wall plays that vital role in the Parti wherein users are led towards the interior spaces as it appears to create that narrowing effect towards the corner of the unit.
It could be a challenge cause the space may seem claustrophobic. To counter this, use of white translucent materials for the interior walls would create that sense of relief. Light from the two exterior windows could still pe*****te towards the other end of the unit.
private spaces are then arranged near the exterior walls where it could benefit most of the natural light. the office and the bedrooms have their own windows to boost productivity and enhance the overall feel of the space.
What I liked most about this plan is that the bedroom is now bigger than the initial layout. It now has a walk in closet where it leads directly to the bathroom through a pocket door.
There are still more to explore but I guess this will do for now. Clients loved the concept and I hope to do more.
