Long Lake Cottage, designed by DUBBELDAM Architecture + Design is an off-grid cottage on a forested peninsula in Ontario, Canada.

The cottage was built for an urban couple with a deep love of nature who had already spent a year camping on the land on weekends, before deciding they wanted a more permanent abode. The design brief was to create a place that was deeply connected to nature, elevated among the trees, and designed to accommodate accessible multi-generational living.

An off-grid cottage on a forested peninsula combines natural materials with elevated living spaces amid the trees. Located on a secluded peninsula along a pri…

Today's is House of Books and Boards, designed by Architects.

Sander Architects designed the home for a creative couple who lived in Venice, CA. The design brief called for a home that would have space for several antique printing presses, a substantial library of beautiful oversized books, and an impressive collection of skateboards.

'Books and Boards' became the theme that united the house. The still-very-active printing presses occupy the back studio, with dozens of skateboards displayed on double-height walls. The front living spaces are filled to the brim with bookshelves that line every wall, including the kitchen.

This project came to us from a creative couple who live in Venice, CA. We were tasked with creating a home that would include space for several antique print...

Today's is a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-inspired workspace designed by Float Studio.

Technology company Anitwork wanted a playful yet efficient office in New York's Dumbo neighborhood. Float Studios sequences the interior through unconventional doorways. Triangular openings, a nod to the brand’s triangular logo, divide the meeting room from the workstations and kitchen. The geometry, clad in a lime green, is lined on either side with transparent poles, enabling views down the length of the room.

What if an office was designed for working less? Float Studios delivers whimsy and surprise in place of seriousness for Antiwork’s office.

Stefano Boeri Architetti has been commissioned by the Archdiocese of Milan to reimagine the monastery, creating the Ambrosian Monastery in the MIMD Milano Innovation district.

The project establishes a symbolic bridge between the monastic traditions that once shaped the territory around Milan and the contemporary culture of research, innovation, and urban transformation, defining MIND.

The Ambrosian Monastery is set to occupy a 2,700-square-meter site with an additional 1,100 square meters of open space. At the center, will be a triangular cloister open to the movement of the city and framed by a colonnade. Inside the cloister, will be a new trigonal-plan church that can host between 300 to 350 worshipers.

US Department of Transportation secretary Sean P Duffy and national transportation company Amtrak have selected a team led by developers Halmar and Skanska to renovate New York City's Penn Station.

Initial designs for the project were first released in 2023 by architecture studios PAU and HOK, and developer ASTM. At the time, the project included renovating existing structures without the destruction of or addition to the surrounding infrastructure.

The initial renders also show Penn Station's square base and Madison Square Garden (MSG) wrapped in a light stone that mirrors Moynihan Train Hall across the street.

As part of the ambitious Louvre – Nouvelle Renaissance initiative STUDIOS Architecture and Selldorf Architects have been named laureates of the international Grande Colonnade competition, tasked with reimagining the museum’s eastern entrance and visitor experience nearly forty years after Ieoh Ming Pei’s iconic pyramid reshaped the Louvre.

The proposal focuses on reopening the Louvre's historic eastern facade, through the Grande Colonnade, restoring its relationship with the city while creating new public entrances and circulation routes designed to ease congestion.

The scheme introduces a sequence of landscaped public spaces stretching from Saint-Germain-l’Auxerrois toward the Colonnade and the Cour Carrée beyond. A large belvedere overlooking the Louvre facade and newly vegetated moats creates a contemplative public platform, while two symmetrical ramps descend gradually into the fossés below.

Today's is a new timber pavilion designed by Studio Gang to serve as an open-air theater for a New York state theater troupe.

Studio Gang designed the Samuel H. Scripps Theater Center for the Hudson Valley Shakespeare theater company. The timber-based theater will be their permanent home.

The design features a gently curved, timber-framed grid shell that frames views of the highlands along the Hudson River. The 26,000-square-foot theater can seat 451 people. Picnic lawns on the hill around the theater provide visitors with a place to gather before and after the show.

Natural ventilation and solar shading around the roof's perimeter help passively cool the building. Other green design features include the use of low-carbon mass timber, photovoltaic panels, and rainwater harvesting and reuse.

The designers are targeting a LEED v4 Platinum certification for the theater, the first-such for a purpose-built US theater.

The new Samuel H. Scripps Theater Center at Hudson Valley Shakespeare (HVS), one of New York’s most beloved regional professional theater companies, establishes a permanent home and more versatility for its actors, audience, and back-of-house.

Toronto-based Paul Raff Studio (PRS) and Kengo Kuma & Associates (KKAA) have won a competition to design a visitor center and community space in a Canadian national park.

PRS and KKAA's design for the new visitor center at Banff National Park in Alberta shows the existing center, a Tudor-style building, augmented by new structures capped by shingled roofs and featuring the rustic materiality of stone and wood.

The largest of the new buildings will have a pronounced hip roof, while other structures are defined by expansive A-frame pitched roofs. A plaza in between the buildings will host community events and gatherings.

The expansion of The Broad, a contemporary art museum in downtown Los Angeles, has officially topped out.

The Broad, which was founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, was designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The museum officially opened in September 2015 and features two floors of gallery space as well as the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation's worldwide lending library.

Diller Scofidio + Renfro also designed the extension, which will expand the museum's gallery space by roughly 70 percent. The 50,000-square-foot addition is on track to open in 2028.

Roughly one year after breaking ground, the expansion of The Broad officially hit its topping-out milestone yesterday as the project’s final steel beam was hoisted into place in Downtown Los Angeles.  Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and built by MATT Construction — the same team...
