In observance of the Lenten seasonโa time of reflection, remembrance, and quiet reverenceโthis memorial complex in Malolos, Bulacan, is envisioned as a place of dignity, continuity, and pause.
Set on a ยฑ900 sqm developer-owned property, the memorial site was once home to a well-known local family in the late 1940's โ an important piece of personal and architectural heritage. Rather than replacing it, the design carefully preserves this Art Decoโinfluenced mausoleum structure, allowing its history to remain at the heart of the development while integrating it into a contemporary crematorium and columbarium facility, thoughtfully planned in accordance with current building standards.
At the core of the complex lies an intimate courtyardโan open sanctuary designed for stillness and reflection. Here, an existing Fu Dog statue is preserved as the centerpiece, serving as a quiet guardian of memory and a symbolic anchor within the space.
Framed by indoor and outdoor columbaria, the courtyard offers a place where visitors can sit, pause, and mourn their loved ones in a setting that feels both grounded and serene.
The sunken centerpiece thoughtfully designed as both a seating and lounge area, drawing people closer to the heart of the space, while also functioning as the main drainage pointโensuring resilience without compromising the solemn atmosphere.
Composed of a crematorium, courtyard columbaria, and burial spaces, the development becomes more than a place of restโit is a sanctuary for reflection, honoring memory, heritage, and the enduring connection between the living and those who came before.
